Casey Printers is the Highest Paid Player in the League

Casey Printers' football odyssey is over. He has signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL. And he's getting paid big time by CFL standards.

The 26-year-old quarterback will sign a multi-year deal that will make him the highest paid player in the Canadian Football League at about $500,000 per season.
Struggle in the NFL or be a star in the CFL and get paid a lot more money? Can't say I blame Casey for this one. He must be like Joe Montana up there.

Good for Printers
I for one am glad to see him make some cash.  You only have so long to play football so you got to make as much as you can as fast as you can.

Also is that $500,000 American or Canadian?

ESPN article
I'm assuming many of you have seen this.  I'll allow those of you who are far more articulate than me to respond in kind:

I saw that earlier today
The funny thing is earlier today, Simmons had written that Jared Allen would miss 4 games. Now the article has changed to correct 2 games.

I'm not worried about stuff like what Simmons wrote. There will be plenty of doubters and critics this whole season.

The Printers Sweepstakes
As a long time Chiefs fan who also happens to be a Canadian living in Canada, I remember seeing Printers play with the BC CFL team a few years back and managing to heckle the hell out of him. (Our stadium in Montreal allows fans to sit ridiculously close to the benches. I almost managed to reach out and grab an opposing player who was warming up on an exercise bike.)

I don't think Printers will prove to be worth such a high CFL salary. After all, his team won the Grey Cup (our Super Bowl) after he left, and he hasn't seen any real action in a while. He also got signed to pretty much the worst team in the league. They're desperate. So all this to say that Printers ain't no Joe Montana up here. He got very good money for a CFL player, but it surprised a lot of people.

Apart from that, go Chiefs! I plan to make it to Arrowhead one day to see a game. Ideally, it's a game in which the Chiefs stomp all over the Broncos or Raiders.

You'll have to keep
us updated on how well Printers' season is going. I'd be interested to hear from someone close to the action.

Will do
No problem. FYI the best site to check up on him is http://www.tsn.ca. It's our ESPN. There's a press conference today at 4 p.m. EST to announce his signing. Looks like he signed for three years, and has therefore given up the NFL dream. I enjoy the CFL game but the NFL is still tops even for most Canadians.

Good for him
He was about the only player to really challenge Ray Farmer when he was cut.  I thought it was interesting.

Cheers!

You play to win the game!
