Kansas City Chiefs Defeat the Minnesota Vikings

CHIEFS! CHIEFS! CHIEFS!

The Chiefs beat the Vikings today, 13 to 10. The game center is here.

Damon Huard looked scared during the first half and then just turned it on in the second half. Compare 37 first half passing yards with over 170 yards in the second half.

What else can we say about Dwayne Bowe? The kid has arrived.

Eddie Drummond almost broke two kick returns today. 180 degree turnaround from the first two weeks of the season.

Jared Allen. Pro Bowl. Mark it down. Tamba Hali had a sack today as well and a strip at the end of the game to basically seal the game.

Derrick Johnson is absolutely amazing. He was everywhere today including multiple plays he made behind the line of scrimmage.

And we won the game with Larry Johnson rushing for less than 50 yards. Use this thread for your post game discussion. I'll have the game recap up tonight or tomorrow morning.

GO CHIEFS!!!

Much to build on
The defense looks strong, a lot of good things today.

D. Bowe show is great, can't wait to see more!

Some good things
Great to see Jared Allen back in a big way!  We got some good pressure for most of the game.

Bowe is amazing.  That catch on the sidelines was great and he really bailed out Huard on that TD.

dwayne bowe is a stud
he is the best WR we have had since stephon page, and the first receiver ive ever seen for the chiefs that goes and gets the ball. most WRs, even in the nfl, tend to catch it when it comes to them, but only the special ones go out and GET the ball, like bowe did last week against the bears and today.

our defense was nearly inpenetrable after the first drive. seriously, they played pretty bad in drive #1, but after that they only gave up a FG and that was after a damon huard fumble. our defense can play that good every week too, and we can be in a lot of games...

and finally, our offense was worlds different in the second half. i am just hoping and praying that solari starts calling entire games just like he called today's second half, we still probably ran the ball too much but at least we threw the ball DOWN FIELD!

Fun
The game was fun (at least in the parking lot afterwards!).  It was hard to watch but the 2nd half was much better with some play-actions.

Lots of chants for Brodie in my section.  It totally pissed me off and put me in a bad mood.  I am going to save my thoughts for a diary, but I do think you dance with the one that brought ya'.  It's really shortsighted.

Offensive play calling in the last three minutes was atrocious.  Do you want to win this game or what?

So all in all - good times.

Cheers.

You play to win the game!

i disagree
i dont mind running the ball up the middle to try and run out the clock. we do have LJ after all, and while they werent the best run calls it doesnt bother me.

the entire first half playcalling was what really pissed me off, we ran the ball on first down like 10 times in a row. but hey, solari did a much better job in the second so im not too pissed off.

Credit Where Credit Is Due
Damon made plays in the second half, Solari recognized we weren't getting it done with the running game so he led them air it out a bit.

A good win. Maybe the start of something we can build on.

My thoughts
Huard has saved his job at least for one more week with a much awaited for worthy qb performance.  Just want to know why it took us to be down and into the second half for him to finally show it, maybe its the play calling, but I don't think that's it.  Hopefully next week we play with the same sense of urgency we played with in the second half, and can sneak one out against the struggling Chargers.

LJ didn't do much, but listening to the radio during the game (Can't stand the TV commentators) they were saying he seemed injured and was icing and wrapping up his hamstring, not good news if that's true.  Vikings have one of the best run d's in the league, so really wasn't expecting much, but the one time he had a hole he took it down inside the 5, to bad a holding brought it back.

Bowe is really impressing me, and I didn't expect him to play nearly this well, especially this early.  Nothing more refreshing and encouraging to see someone who wants the ball and goes and gets it.

Third week in a row the D looks really good minus one drive. Jared Allen saved the game, and definitely looks like a pro bowler.  Glad to see them step up when we needed them to, and not let that first drive effect how they played the rest of the game.

Overall, good game, the second half is definitely something to build one.  Maybe we can get a win against a struggling SD team.  Think, after starting the season 1-2, the Chiefs are still tied for second in our division, and only a game back against an unimpressive Broncos team so far.  This division looks like anyone can take it, it's just a matter of who wants it the most.

Please Carl!!
Please pay my boy Jared Allen!!! Don't be an arrogant asshole. WE NEED JARED ALLEN! He's the most exciting dude on the team. But, he does have some competition coming from Bowe, doesn't he? The dude's a beast! All Huard had to do was chuck the pigskin anywhere in D-Bowe's general direction. He's impressive. Eddie who? I still want to start Brodie even though I know that I'm probably in the minority. I just don't see the point of saying we're "rebuilding" with a 32 year old quarterback.
