The Kansas City Chiefs and Week 1 Power Rankings

Although I consider Week 1 to be practically an extension of the preseason (Dear lord I hope it is in the Chiefs case) in terms of power rankings, here are where the Kansas City Chiefs rank in various power rankings from around the 'Net.

Newsday.com:

28. Chiefs: Don't care if Larry Johnson carries the ball 50 times. There is a problem at quarterback, and the defense still underachieves.

ESPN

30. Just call it the Curse of Lawrence Tynes. The Chiefs traded away their veteran kicker during the offseason, and now they're struggling to find a suitable replacement. Serves 'em right.

CBS

30. When I put the Chiefs down near the bottom last week, plenty of Chiefs fans groaned. Now what do you think?

27. Anyone who watched HBO's "Hard Knocks" series knew the Chiefs' offense was in some serious trouble this season. But no one expected them to be this bad. Sunday's performance was atrocious. The Chiefs offense went 3-for-11 on third downs, totaled only 219 yards, and coughed up four turnovers. Larry Johnson only rushed for 43 yards, as the Houston defense kept him bottled up throughout Sunday's 20-3 loss. Kansas City could quite possibly have the worst offense in the entire league.

Most power rankings have the Chiefs falling in the lower third of the NFL, which is about right in my opinion. I was surprised at the couple of sites that had the Chiefs higher than 25 after the offensive breakdown in Houston. The talk of the "worst offense in the NFL" has already begun. I, for one, am going to use these low rankings as a rallying point for our Chiefs. Cinderella story? I think so.

Could this do anything with the fact that LJ only rushed 10 times? Hmm I'm not sure. I'll take 4.3 YPC.

Got it wrong...I think. Unless I am going crazy, the Texans went 3 of 11 on third downs. That was one of the only good things Herm had to say after the game.

A great defense wins games, it's just that a bad offense loses MORE games.

This very well could be

the worst offense in the league. They're super predictable and can not get the ball down the field. I'm just shocked that they did not sign Byron Leftwich. Dude has a cannon arm. What makes matters worse is that we will be facing what is probably the league's best defense. But, the good news? The Bears offense isn't much better than ours. I'm holding out small hope for this game. I know that sounds crazy, but if we can hold them to a couple of field goals and score just one touchdown, we can beat them.

i have a weirdly good feeling about sunday

after last weeks performance (by both our offense and their defense) we are literally EXPECTED to score 0 points, so anything above that will be good news. plus, our defense should get a couple of turnovers, and i think we can win this game.

todays prediction will be 10-7.
