Bobby Sippio to Possibly Move to the Active Roster

**UPDATE #2 Tuesday PM** Justin Medlock has cleared waivers and will take Sippio's spot on the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad. UPDATE Weds. AM: This hasn't happened just yet but is only a formality.

**UPDATE** This is a mere formality at this point but I just heard on the radio that Bobby Sippio will be called up from the practice squad for the Bears game this weekend. Eddie Kennison's injury must be fairly severe to warrant such this move so early in the week.

The Star reports:

The Chiefs planned to promote former Arena League receiver Bobby Sippio from the practice squad to play against the Bears. They would release rookie tight end Michael Allan to clear roster space for Sippio.
With Kennison out against the Bears this week, the Sippio addition only makes sense. I will confirm this as soon as I can. I love the irony of Herm Edwards ranting about "Arena League football scores" and then he brings in the biggest Arena League scorer of them all.

Note: KC Chiefs Fanatic also weighs in on Sippio.

If you haven't been around here much
I'm very excited to get Sippio in an actual game. He hasn't even taken a snap for the Chiefs yet I consider him one of the, if not the most, exciting player we have.

During what looks to be a bleak year, Sippio makes things interesting.

Releasing Michael Allan?
That's a horrible idea...I think he could end up being a very good receiving tight end...not as good as Gonzalez, but a nice replacement when Tony retires.  I thought that was why we drafted him in the 7th round...somewhere I thought Herm said that they were considering passing him over in the draft and trying to get him in free agency but that they were worried someone else might grab him...now we are going to give him away?  If so, that means we lost two of our 2007 draft picks after the first game of the season.  Not exactly the way to get younger.  I was a big fan of Herm but bailing on Medlock when it wasn't even a game-decider makes we wonder...especially when the kicker we brought in lost his job to the other kicker we could have drafted, Crosby.  I am not sure this guy from Green Bay will be any better than Medlock (I think he made about 2/3 of his FG attempts last year).

I wouldn't be surprised
if Allan survives waivers and ends up on the practice squad. Its not that I think the guy isn't good. Its that I don't think he's shown enough and teams are aware enough of him to lose him.

Lumpy?
Any word on Michael Allan?...I noticed his name is no longer on the roster on kcchiefs.com...did we even put him on the waiver wire or just release him?

Medlock made the practice squad
So that makes 8 on the practice squad. I think Allan may have been released. I think that was the plan. I'll let you know if I heard something official.
