Around SBN: Hugh Douglas Admits To Stealing From Jaguars

final cuts have been announced

From the diaries. -Chris

per the official website

Kansas City placed RB Priest Holmes on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury List (NFI). The Chiefs released WR Brad Ekwerekwu, S Marlon Fair, DT Kiki Gonzalez, WR Chris Hannon, FB Gilbert Harris, DE Michael Heard, G Rob Hunt, DT Patrice Majondo-Mwamba, DE Montez Murphy, T James Newby, RB Marcus O'Keith, CB Justin Phinisee, CB Will Poole, QB Casey Printers, WR Ean Randolph, LB Nick Reid, LB Rich Scanlon, G Tre Stallings, QB Jeff Terrell and TE Keith Willis

only a couple surprises for me, chris hannon and casey printers. you might throw in randolph or phinisee in there, but i was expecting both of them to be cut. i hope that we put hannon, terrell, randolph, reid, ECK, phinsee and 2 others on the practice squad...

oh, and with those cuts
this is the final roster...

obviously most of the guys are obvious, but there are a couple of surprises. these are my big surprises:

derrick ross
michael allan (although i am really glad he made it)
tyrone brackenridge
nate harris
samie parker (argghhhhhhhh)
SIPPIO!!!!!!!!
chad williams

that means 5 safeties and 2 QB's. im not so sure about the pick of chad williams over casey printers, although if there is something deeper at work then...

i love the fact that sippio made the team, same with allan and ross, good calls on all 3 IMO. hate that williams and parker made the team, but ill get over it.

agree with your list of surprises
and commentary.  Others that had to be close calls included Will Poole, Herb Taylor, Jason Dunn and... I would not have been terribly surprised to see Boomer cut.  Glad there was a spot for him, and I'm sure the coaches were pulling for him since he does what he's asked and does it enthusiastically.

Bot some great personalities on this team.  Seems like there should be good chemistry among the players.  Good balance of experience and youth.  Hope Wesley can keep a good attitude, or find a good home somewhere else that has an extra offensive lineman coming back our way.

Special teams has a chance to be special later in the season, I think.  Both ways on punts and also on kick returns.  Hopefully Medlock finds his stride and the kickoff team does well, too.

leftwich has officially been cut
hopefully we make a move on him. cut chad williams, sign leftwich and have him play some at some poiint this season.

i love croyle, but leftwich is a very talented QB and i would love to have him in a chiefs uniform.

leftwich
i agree on Byron Leftwich. he certainly could do more than printers or, at this point, croyle. although i wish printers well somewhere else.

i'm really surprised the chief's are carrying only 2QB's at this stage, anyway, what with the QB-injury problems they've had as of late.

The Jaguars
have a good running game and talented defense.  Sound familiar?  Just like the Chiefs.  And he didn't do anything with the Jags so whose to say he'd do something with us?

SIPPIO SIPPIO SIPPIO!!!!!

Other QB's cut aound the league...
Doug Johnson, Ken Dorsey, Craig Nall, Jared Zabransky, and Tim Rattay.  I look for us to pick one of these guys up after week one.  I would be very pissed if we spent more than the league minimum on Leftwich.  I would like us to pick up a guy like Craig Nall.  He is a big guy that can take some hits, which we need.  Plus he is not old, being only 28 years old.

Since Sippio did make the team
Who's with me on the Sippio bandwagon? He's practically the only player that makes me excited about our offense.

Gotta give it to you Chris
You've been with him since the beginning.  I will hop on this bandwagon with you.

i am.
well, LJ and tony G both get me excited, same with bowe, but thats it.

sip sip sip-pio!
I'm with you!  Maybe his "this is the way we catch the ball" ethic will rub off on the others.  Some toughness and tenacity in catching!

Also, I'm excited about Bowe's yards after catch. Exciting!  YAC, YAC, YAC!  Bowe knows blocking, too! Or at least has the ability once he gets up to NFL speed, IMO.

Plus, I'm eager to see a half dozen screen/check-down passes to Boomer this season!  There's one player who will not be running out of bounds.  Ha!

Opposing punt returners will be fair catching more in the second half of the season, too, I believe after watching Boomer, Pollard, Sapp, McGraw, Kershaw, Harris, Patterson, and Wesley (with something to prove) light up a few returners, they'll think twice about moving straight ahead at full speed.  I hope, anyway!

Sippio
Add him in there somewhere if he clears waivers.'

Are we the only ones who see something in Sippio?  Come on Herm/Carl
