Predict the Kansas City Chiefs Record
Its prognostication time again at AP. With three preaseason games down, I figured now is as good a time as any. Here is a record prediction from April and here is one from the end of June. Unfortunately, my 10 and 6 record pick through Chiefs red-colored glasses has worsened.

For those of you shouting that the Chiefs are going to be 3 and 13 or something comical like that, you haven't been watching our defense play. Or you forgot that Larry Johnson is on this team.
This Chiefs team will break more than they bend this year but it will be at the expense of actually building a football team, instead of signing miscellaneous players who are two or three years past their prime.
Have at it. I can't imagine the Chiefs being above .500 after this preseason.
Note: I just had to say this after reading some commentary on the game. Can we please wait to condemn Brodie Croyle until after he's played a game with Larry Johnson in the backfield? Just one game?

I'd like to believe you about building a team

True true
Where we don't have young talent is on the offensive line. I'm calling it right now that we draft an offensive lineman next year in the first round.

The Sky is NOT Falling
You cannot gage our season based upon our poor offense when he is not in the game. Did you notice how often Will Svitek (his backup) got beat in last nights game?
The Sky is not falling yet. Now, if McIntosh isn't back in time for the Texans, then I might jump on the 6 and 10 bandwagon.
But, man, not yet.

I wouldn't say

It looks pretty likely
Was I dreaming when after the Croyle pick I heard boos from the home town fans? It wasn't a majority, but it was easily audible. That seems ridiculous to me for a number of reasons 1. This is the PRESEASON. 2. Croyle has played about 1 full professional football game when you add up all of his quarters (mostly in the preseason). 3. Everyone already knows he will make some youthful mistakes. 4. The Chiefs are trying to develop a quarterback for the first time since I've been alive. 5. The Chiefs have only a negligible chance of winning the Superbowl.
BOOOO development and having to deal with some growing pains? Not saying Croyle is going to turn into a Brett Favre story (see, early career decision-making issues and growing pains mixed with a enormously talented arm), but its hard for me to believe that people aren't at least pulling for him enough so that they don't boo him when he makes a meaningless preseason mistake in a season for which there are lowered expectations.

agreed completely.
even with huard starting, we are still going to struggle a ton on offense and hopefully i still wont hear any booing.
i dont think you should EVER boo your own team...

5 and 11
Booing Croyle is ridiculous. He's only a rookie and almost all rookies struggle, ESPECIALLY when they are working some new linemen into the mix.

yea, jake long and sam baker (usc)
this is how i see it, there is no way that we will win anything this year. at the very most we will sneak into the playoffs and lose in the first round. that is about a 1 in a billion chance too...
we need to put croyle in the starting QB position, we need to start building for 2008, 2009 and beyond. we could be a legitimate contender by 09 and make the playoffs next year if we can develop a QB, huard isnt that guy.
it would be a stupid stupid stupid decision to start huard this season, a very shortsighted one that could possibly set us back a year or more.
my prediction is 7-9, with us winning both games against oakland. i am slightly more optimistic, but we still wont be very good.

Season ups and downs
@ Chicago - W 9-7, eat Grossman alive
Minnesota - W come from behind, Medlock winning kick
@ San Diego - L 17-20, we play well
Jacksonville - L no offense this game, bad day
Cincy - W 35-31 in first high scoring affair
@ Oakland - L - sorry, Oakland gels
Green Bay - W Broyle starts after Huard Oakland injury
Denver - L - hate to say it... bootleg city
@ Indy - W LJ runs for 150+ yards, Bowe 150+ yds
Oakland - W by more than 20 points, Huard returns
San Diego - W LT held to 70 yds, Phinisee 3rdQ punt return TD
@ Denver - L as we give up 200 yds rushing
Tennessee - W Mr. McNair: Meet Jared, Tamba, Tank and Alphonso
@ Detroit - W Calvin J. vs. D Bowe hype, Tony G 100+ yds, 3 TDs
@ New York Jets - W Chiefs win one for the Herm, 4 INTs from defense
After game by game guessing, Chiefs 10-6, with a strong end of season run once again. Yep, there are some longshots -- like Indy. Any given Sunday. =]

Brodie + Croyle
And it's not Mr. McNair - Mr. Vince for the Titans.

My preds.
I don't think QB issues will plague us out of too many victories, and our defense should keep us in every game but a couple.

5-11 or 6-10

I disagree.
Jeff George, Ryan Leaf, Mike Vick, Tim Couch, Joey Harrington, Kyle Boller, etc...
Seems pretty easy to fix the QB's head.
