Larry Johnson Holdout is Over

The great holdout that never really was:

The star running back Johnson has agreed in principle to a new six-year deal with Kansas City, and is expected to rejoin his team on Tuesday, FOXSports.com has learned.

While his teammates were holding two-a-days in River Falls, Wisconin, Johnson spent training camp working out at Athletes Performance Institute in Tempe, Arizona.

Financial terms of the deal were not yet available, but it is expected that Johnson will be one of the three highest-paid running backs in the NFL, along with San Diego's LaDainian Tomlinson and Seattle's Shaun Alexander.

No harm was really done with Larry Johnson's holdout. He would have played sparingly if at all during the first two preseason games. He was working out on his own in Arizona so his playing shape never was an issue. If anything, we got to see more of our young running backs than we normally would have. The Chiefs have their franchise running back now and I, for one, am very excited.

Here's to Larry Johnson retiring as a Kansas City Chief.

Finally
I knew it would happen eventually, I'm just glad it finally did.

810 sports
is reporting its a 6 year $45 million, with a $19 million guaranteed.

Espn says....
"The contract is worth $45 million, with $19 million  guaranteed. Of the guaranteed money, $12 million is the signing bonus and $7 million is guaranteed salary."

im not surprised
i knew it would get done, but i am very happy it got done so soon (relatively).

that means that he will probably see action for a series in the final preseason game, hopefully getting him ready for houston.

great news.
i wonder if he might play just a little bit thursday, just to get him on the field in arrowhead even if it is just for a play or two.

i would imagine the place wuld be pretty loud if #27 stepped onto the field.

I would love to be there
if LJ stepped onto the field.  That place would go absolutely nuts.

im excited
i was listening to a radio report and they said he took a screen pass 80 yards against the first team d on one of his first plays, and the guy reporting said he looked to be in excellent condition, maybe "even leaner" than before

Crazy
I know it is unrealistic that he might play on Thursday but I would be thrilled.  I am taking my 3YO daughter to her first Chiefs game & she would really get into cheering for L.J.

I took her to the Royals game & was yelling "strike 'em out" and "home run."  She would mimic me - even to the point where the ladies in front of us were worried she might lose her voice.  Just like Mama after the Chiefs games.

Cheers!

You play to win the game!
