Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Where Do the Kansas City Chiefs Rank?

Via the salary database from USA Today, I give you the top 25 RBs, ranked in terms of total salary for the 2006 season. USA Today says, "For each player, the database shows his base salary, signing bonus, other bonuses and cap value. The base salary is the value according to his contract; however, he may not have received the entire amount. The column labeled "salary" is the actual amount he received in base salary and bonuses combined." I know there are a lot of reasons for the various ranks but I'm not bringing this up to make any particular point.

I'm putting this out there so we can take a look at the top 2006 salaries and so you can check out that link above to the very cool USA Today salary database. As the summer wears on, we'll be discussing Larry Johnson and his contract and it will be important to have some hard numbers that are easily accessible. Mess around with the database and let me know if you find anything interesting. I'll have another positional review coming up later today.

Very cool Chris.
Nice find.  Interesting to see Betts (a Blue Springs grad) and Portis there right next to each other.  Both played about half of the year.

Thanks
I'm doing my best right now to educate myself more on NFL salaries, salary cap, bonuses etc.

I'll get some general knowledge out there so we can be prepared for serious discussion here if the LJ contract talks heat up.

First few months of the off-season
were about Trent's situation, now the last few months will be about LJ's contract.  Boy, I can't wait...

LJ
LJ is scheduled to make around 1.94 million this season, which is still below 25th on this list. Its crazy to me that anyone would think he doesn't deserve a contract extension. I mean for god sakes Rueben Droughns, Betts, Jeremi Johnson, and Mike Anderson just to name a few that are in front of him.

I just want this to happen now and get this shit over with. If Carl drags this out the Chiefs organization will not attract many FA's because of the way we have been handling our business.

I concur
Despite agreeing with Carl Peterson in the Trent Green saga, CP came off pretty horribly to the general public.

If CP doesn't extend LJ's contract, then whose contract would he extend? Get it done!
