Derrick Ross Named Co-MVP of NFL Europe
Sounds like Derrick Ross is doing a hell of a job over there. I imagine he'll be in a Chiefs uniform soon.
Ross' stats for this year include 802 yards rushing, 933 yards from scrimmage and 5 TDs. It goes without saying that Ross also made the All-NFL Europe team. You have to imagine that Ross is above Kolby Smith on the depth chart now. He's not quite the no. 2 RB but he's on his way. Hat tip to the Sports Guru from the MHR for the info.

It seems
Are you guys going on a good feeling or what? Not arguing per se, just curious. I'm going on Ross' NFL Europa performance which isn't saying much either.

its hard to have a spot on the roster
ps: who else is excited to see boomer grigsby line up at fullback and knock some linebackers flat on their butts? he's a hitter, and i'm excited to see him lay some people out for LJ.

here is how i see our RB situation
bennett will be the backup because if healthy, he is one of the better backups in the league. there is no way LJ carries it 400 times last season if bennett would have stayed healthy, now even if he does get hurt we have other backs for LJ to share the load with.
kolby smith will share time with boomer at fullback and bennett at backup RB. kris wilson wont get much playing time at fb IMO, he will be the second TE (passing wise) and be the h-back. kolby will do a little bit of everything out of the backfield, block, run, catch, and will be a fan favorite from the get-go. i think he could be like t-rich in a couple of years, not as good of a blocker as him but an even better runner and pass catcher out of the backfield. he is our longterm answer for fullback and if boomer doesnt win the job could start there this year...
derrick ross is one of my favorite current chiefs. i watched a game a couple weeks ago and it is clear he COULD be a feature back in a couple of years. maybe not a feature back per se but more like one half of a 2 back combo, like indy last year or new england or jacksonville, etc. he is quick, bounces off tackles, and can catch the ball out of the backfield. while this year he will just be the 3rd RB and not dress for most games (if he makes the team, he might go to the practice squad if we can squeeze him through) once bennett leaves ross will be the primary backup to LJ and will be for a LONG TIME COMING. like i said in my diary about him, he could very well be our michael turner in SD.
one idea to clear everything up would be to trade bennett. he is hurt so often and with ross really emerging the need for a backup RB isnt there quite like it was last year. if we could get a 4th round pick or even a 5th rounder (we gave up a 4th rounder last year for him) i would be happy as we would continue to stockpile picks for the 08 draft and continue our process to get younger. a lot younger.

im not sure
he definately isnt like LJ where he clearly can survive without one, but i bet he is more like bennett where to be truly successful he would need one, but could get by without one.
if that made any sense at all.
