Trade? Jared Allen for Dwight Freeney or Alex Brown?

I am a huge Jared Allen fan. As a matter of fact in my opinion he is probably one of the best DE in Chiefs history. Granted, I haven't seen a whole lot of "history at 25" I know what I have seen though. I have seen a whole lot of Jared Allen wreaking havoc on offenses. Knocking the snot out of quarterbacks, forcing fumbles, recovering them, and just inflicting pain on anyone he could get his hands on. Mind you without any push up the middle, none. That says a lot about his sheer talent and will to play the game. Besides, the fact that he has one heak of a pre game show with Lief Lisec.

But as the off season unfolds, and more stories come out about his being disgruntled and not wanting to play in K.C. any more. I wonder if now is the time to make a move. With character in and out of the locker room becoming more and more a factor in contracts and what not. Would it really be a good idea to give him the long term contract he desires. I say yes and no both. He has the skills and drive, but can he straighten up? Or will he poison the Chiefs locker room and/or his NFL career with a bad attitude or arrests?

With DE Dwight Freeney (Colts) and DE Alex Brown (Bears) desiring trades and Allen likewise would it be so bad to make everyone happy? Allen and a draft pick for either of these two players would be more than fair on all sides of the deal. Both Freeney and Brown are starters that are still fairly young, and both played in last years superbowl. Allen, is a very good starter also with lots of upside potential provided his legal problems stay out of the way, and the draft pick would be icing on the cake, plus it helps make up for the 4 game suspension.

In close, I would really like the Chiefs and Allen to kiss and make up. But on the off chance that they can't or Allen can't stay out of trouble. I would definitly welcome Freeney or Brown with open arms.

Brown maybe but Freeney would never happen.

The Colts wanna lock him up long term, and I hope after a year of solid play and good behavior we do the same with Allen.

I think we should keep Jared Allen

through his one year tender and see what happens. One more year would give us a chance to see what we have with Tank Tyler too, who is extremely prematurely being touted as a possible future replacement for Allen.

I think I would rather have Brown.

If it came down to it and we had to trade Allen for some reason. I think I would rather have Brown for the simple fact that I wouldn't want the Chiefs to have to face Allen in the AFC, or help Peyton Manning either. Freeney is definitly the better of the two, but I think Allen would rip us to shreds for a little pay back and I don't like that idea at all.
