Rumor Mill: Green Bay Packers Make Trade Offer for Larry Johnson

Scout has the details if you're a premium subscriber but the word is that they offered a 1st round pick and a 4th round pick. The Packers pick 16th in the first round and have the 112th overall pick in the 4th round. Gotta say if that is it, I'm not trading Larry Johnson. The Packers would have to sweeten the deal with something else.

This is one is still in Rumorville so we'll wait and see.

**UPDATE** Apparently, Larry Johnson has not been given permission to talk to any other teams, making the Green Bay offer a big rumor at this point. Tip to Pro Football Talk. Rumors replacing rumors. I have no idea who to believe anymore...

If they throw in another pick
say a 3rd I would take it.  Then we could grab a DT and a CB in the first and a RB in the 2nd.  If we do trade green for a 6th and booker then we could wait until the 3rd or 4th(packers pick) for a WR.  I like this scenario alot.

The thing is
I don't think that Green Bay's 1st round pick is high enough. 16th? I was hoping more of a top tenish pick for LJ. I know thats not necessarily feasable with what teams have those picks but that would be his value.

Johnson would be the #1 pick.
So, if you went by draft value.  He would rate at least 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks.  But we are in a tough salary cap spot.  I would offer GB Larry for 1st, 3rd and 4th with a conditional 2008 pick between 2nd and 5th.

Sorry
I'm with you Chris.  It drives me crazy when people have to use ignorant language to get their points across.  And Delicious I agree that LJ is worth more than that, but at the same time we won't be able to trade LJ next year as he will probably leave via free agency, so why not get a decent return for him?  IMO I think we'd be friggin(that's what you meant right?) stupid not to try and trade him.
