Around SBN: Leandro Damiao Is Still Really Good

Quotable

Larry Johnson's trainer Joe Carini, from the Star:

"The Chiefs are going to be very surprised at the amount of size and strength LJ is acquiring," Carini said. "I'm really pushing the man. He was already a tremendous physical specimen. By doing this type of training, I really believe he's going to set a standard next season."

more size and strength?
Maybe being larger and stronger will help LJ resist the temptation of turning his back to the line and falling down whenever there isn't a clear hole.  Seeing him run into the line and then turn and fall almost made me wish for the days when Okoye would run straight ahead no matter what and crash into the back of his own lineman (even if there was a hole 1 foot to either side)...at least he pushed the lineman forward a yard or two.

I agree that LJ is a "tremendous physical specimen," but that doesn't mean squat if he's not running w/ the chip on his shoulder like he was 2 years ago.  When he's trying to punish defenders he reminds me of the power of Jamal Lewis in his heyday - few defenders even want to TRY to bring him down.  But when he's tip-toeing around, or turning his back to the pile, he's not much more than a ho-hum back.

I agree
Hopefully this LJ trade talk will fire him up even more.

He seems like
a guy that NEEDS that chip on his shoulder.

Hey Hulk...
Tip-toeing around?  Ho-hum back?  How about 2 consecutive 1,700+ yd seasons.  Don't get into the habit of just bashing everyone on the Chiefs just because of your own personal athletic downfalls..

primetime
have you ever seen the hulk in action?  no, i didn't think so.  if you saw THIS physical specimen you'd curl up into a ball and cry for your mommy right after wetting yourself...stick to Madden and DON'T second-guess me.
