oh i know
phillip is a good qaurterback as long as the o line plays perfectly, which happens quite often with san diegos o line. I actually just hate the chargers, bottom line.

Rivers went to the Pro Bowl
Because he had a good first half last year, basically just not making mistakes, not necessarily making plays (sound familiar fans?)

He has so many weapons, he's set up to succeed?

by Joel Thorman on Dec 9, 2007 2:37 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Wow
LT has only had four games where he rushed for over 100 yards.

You might have made my day
Sippio playing would be the best thing about this game and the rest of the season.  I really do think the blogosphere calling for him has an effect on decisions like this.

by Joel Thorman on Dec 9, 2007 2:55 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Nah
I don't think its had any effect.

by Chris Thorman on Dec 9, 2007 2:58 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Watch the replay
Rivers was almost sacked and lobbed it up to LT who caught it.  They ended saying he was out of bounds when he caught it.

Samie Parker
Someone answered are prayers, lets see if we got anyone else at WR.

San Diego is down by 7
and they have the ball on the Titans 2 yard line.

WIth 30 seconds left
Cowboys just scored a TD to go up by one on the Lions with 18 seconds left.

by Chris Thorman on Dec 9, 2007 3:11 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

samie parker has grown on me this season...
i actually like him now...

still, i am happy sippio is (apparently) getting a chance.

i love sippio.

in all honesty, the most important part of this game is the play of the young players. specifically, brodie croyle. if we lose, but croyle and kolby and bowe and sippio and page and pollard play well, i will be happier than if they all play like crap and we win.

by rockchalk on Dec 9, 2007 3:10 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

i hate the chargers and the cowboys...
and they will both probably sneak out a W.

cowboys just did it, hopefully the titans D can stuff the chargers...

Ha
The station cut away from the Charger game to the Chiefs game about a half second after Antonio Gates caught a TD to tie the game.

Perfect timing.

by Chris Thorman on Dec 9, 2007 3:14 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

the best part about this game...
is we can pretty much take out the broncos from the playoff picture.

they lose this game, and the chargers win, and they are out. at least they should be.

that would make my day.

i hate the broncos.

by rockchalk on Dec 9, 2007 3:16 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Prediction
Chiefs deffense steps it up again, holding the Broncos to 13 points.  Unfortunately, our offense continues to take a step in the wrong direction, giving up multiple drive-killing sacks, limiting our offense to only 10 points.  Damn you Broncos, damn you.

by Chiefs n Chopper on Dec 9, 2007 3:17 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

yikes.
maybe our defense does need some improvement.

pollard needs to get off his block more, and jarrad page just tackled like greg wesley.

So if we're at
34% this far into the season, wouldn't you think about mixing it up, or not going for it, at least not as much? If you're only getting it less than 4 per 10 tries, wouldn't you think about not relying on it?

Or is this more of my silly high expectations for Herm?

If we have the opportunity to draft Glenn Dorsey
Do we take him?   Assume it's the 5th or 6th pick, he falls to us, do we draft him or stick to the offensive line?

I would definitely want him, but we also need o-linemen bad.

by Joel Thorman on Dec 9, 2007 4:37 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

I still have issues
with taking an o-lineman in the most talented offensive draft in years, along with Dorsey possibly being available.

When's the earliest Long will be able to make a real impact?

You Play! To Punt! The Ball!

by Ridiculous Matt on Dec 9, 2007 4:43 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Depends on who is still
available. Offensive line has to be the first need but we can't pass up a top CB either.

by Chris Thorman on Dec 9, 2007 4:43 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

i would love it
if we would address the O-line in free agency at the end of the season

by The DBowe Show on Dec 9, 2007 4:45 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Does anyone
have solid reasons for drafting a lineman other than "our o-line sucks!"

Drafting a stud lineman won't necessarily improve that for another 3 or 4 years.

I've said this before. What if we land in the 4 spot and it goes

McFadden
Long
Brohm
Dorsey

I mean, I understand the "You can't always take the sexy pick!" mentality.

i'm fine with the QB we have.  put a good o-line in front of him and he's a future pro bowler.  all the other guys you mentioned besides brohm i'd be totally down with

agreed.
i think croyle has proven enough for us to not draft a QB...

but other than that, it is without a doubt best player available. i kind of think herm agrees too. DE wasnt a need when we took hali. the 2nd and 3rd round i like taking the BPA, but i dont mind drafting for need.

IMO, rounds 4-7 are for either projects or needs, which is where we should take plenty of o linemen.

i just hope not all of them fail like with dick vermeil...

i would die to have long or dorsey or long, and would be happy with someone like clady or baker or a CB.

by rockchalk on Dec 9, 2007 4:54 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I mean
odds are that we can have our pick of the absolute best offensive lineman in the draft. So that's good.

Trust me I like Brodie. It's just that the quarterback talent is so phenomenal this year, I almost feel guilty not drafting one. Think San Diego drafting Rivers. I know they would have been better to stick with Brees, but I'm just saying it's not unheard of to draft the best player available.

Let's say it goes...

Miami
Jets
Rams
Falcons
Chiefs
Niners

Miami has Ronnie Brown. The Jets will probably take Dorsey. Rams have Bulger and Jackson. Falcons will take Brohm almost assuredly.

Don't we HAVE to take McFadden? If for no other reason than to keep the Patriots from getting him with the Niners pick, for the good of the league?

oh yea...
i would take mcfadden in a heartbeat if he is available.

he is going to be awesome in the nfl, and we could even play him at QB every once in awhile.

regarding the QB, i LOVE x 100 andre woodson. i am pretty confident he will be the best QB in this draft, im not a big fan of brohm. i think he has a decent chance to have already peaked, and just be a decent QB in the nfl.

woodson has star potential...

so, if we take brohm i will be pissed off. but if we take woodson, no big deal.

in an ideal world, we take dorsey or mcfadden or long with the first round, then someone like brennan in the second round. i think brennan is going to be really good in the NFL...

then focus on the o line and corners the rest of the draft...

by D Thomas on Dec 9, 2007 5:20 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

dont get me wrong...
vermeil did a lot of good things for the chiefs of his tenure.

but his drafting skills and player development were absolutely atrocious/horrible/horrendous, and that is the BIGGEST reason why we suck right now.

we had the oldest roster in the nfl with almost no young depth to build on in the future. that is why we have to REBUILD, we need to shove in plenty and plenty and plenty of talent (mostly young talent) into this team so we can compete in a couple of years.

herm has had to rebuild this team just to get to this point, give him a couple more years to see what he can do with his own team.

his in-game skills suck, but he is doing a very good job (thus far) of bringing in talent.

by rockchalk on Dec 9, 2007 5:28 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

by the way
the great talent he's brought in have given up 4 touchdowns to Jay Cutler and have nearly killed Brodie Croyle.

But you're right! Dick Vermeil did this! Damn him! Fire Vermeil!

herm edwards is a pretty bad head coach. it isnt all dick vermeils fault. but he didnt help.

all i am saying is give herm some time, at least next season, to see what he can do.

see if he opens up the offense, something.

it is never good to make rash decisions on one game, or one long ass losing streak.

he did a pretty good job last season, he deserves another year or so...

by rockchalk on Dec 9, 2007 5:45 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

See, now that bothers me
so, it's Dick Vermeil's fault, even though we had a better season last year with the team filled with Vermeil talent than we did this year?

And the level to which we got blown out today is disgusting. We were unprepared.

I know the injuries.

I know it's Mile High (kind of).

5.

losing to a division rival in a pathetic margin by 40 points is a natural part of the building process.

There's going to be some growing pains, but just remember, Herm Edwards can draft reeaaaaally well. What goes on in the game has very little to do with actually winning and losing. What's important is how you evaluate players.

Let's all make sure we blame the right person for this humiliating and disgusting, sternum punching loss.

MAWK, seriously, i understand...
today is on herm edwards. hands down. without a doubt.

herm has yet to have this team play up to its ability this season, besides SD in the second half, and that is all on him.

vermeils win-at-all-costs-right-now didnt help, but herm is responsible for HIS team.

but give him time. rash decisions are never good.

we were in a position to win the afc west before injuries beat the crap out of us. our lack of depth is partially due to the lack of drafting ability of dick vermeil.

i know, i know, i know. vermeil was a good coach blah blah blah...

but vermeil only made the playoffs once in his 5 year tenure with the kansas city chiefs. herm has made it once in 2 years.

give him the same 5 years vermeil got and see what happens, he might still coach like shit but i bet we have more talent.

i understand where you are coming from. herm is far from the best coach in the NFL. he is average at best.

maybe i am just being too optimistic. but i just get the feeling that we have a chance to win a super bowl in another two years. i want to at least try and do it with a lights-out defense (which we are farther from than i thought; we need 2 CBs, a DT and another LB) and a good offense. we still need an offensive line, but it looks like we have the RB combo (kolby and LJ), the WR (bowe), the TE (gonzalez) and maybe the QB. if croyle can continue to improve, which i think he can and will, or if we can draft a solid QB like woodson or brennan or ryan or somebody, we have a solid chance.

i know im in the minority, maybe im the only one, but oh well....

You're actually a member
of a very vocal majority.

I don't want to fire Edwards. I want just what you said. When Edwards completely sucks, for us to say, "Wow, Herm Edwards coached a horrible, horrible game."

And I'm a little sick of blame being heaped on the first coach we've had to get us to 13-3, when people keep saying "Look at how terrible the defense was!" and then, you know, 41-7.

Edwards is responsible for this team. Not Vermeil. If he doesn't have the talent he wants, he needs to go out and get it.

I'm still trying to figure out why people aren't criticizing him for Kyle Turley getting paid by us.

When we do win games, we win by small victories, barely edging out teams in the last five minutes.

We run draws on 3rd and 18.

Today's not a reason to fire Herm Edwards. Today is a reason to question whether we're heading in the right direction.

Finally, look. I jumped up an dscreamed in the middle of a Bourbon Street bar when the Broncos lost to the Niners. That was awesome.

But let's be honest, here.

We didn't win our way in. Other teams blew it. Saying Edwards made it to the playoffs is not okay with me. I don't buy Herm's little speech.

I want to win our way into the playoffs. Not benefit from other people's losses before getting annihilated in the first round.

Again.
