Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Friday Morning Update (0.1% Chance Edition)

  • KC Chiefs Fanatic gives us three things that will help turn the franchise around.

  • Very good article by Michael Ash at Real Football 365. He sums up the Vermeil era quite nicely -- "Trading away valuable picks, signing multiple free-agent busts, and terrible drafting will derail even the best teams, and the Chiefs are starting to pay for those mistakes."

  • Jon at MVN breaks down a few myths about the Chiefs running game.

  • It isn't looking good for Reggie Bush and his Heisman trophy.

  • Click here to see if you'll be able to watch the Chiefs game in your area.

  • Ouch. Herm comes in at #30 in ESPN's coaches approval raitings.

  • AP's main man Rick Dean of The Topeka Capital-Journal talks about Brodie Croyle's inexperience in the snow.

  • Football Outsiders puts the Chiefs chances of a playoff spot at 0.1%. So you're saying there's a chance?
Another Friday begins. We got a few inches of snow here in KC that's putting a damper on things. It's overcast, cold and people are still driving like maniacs on the road because of the snow.

I didn't see last night between the Bears and Redskins but Todd Collins relieved Jason Campbell at QB for the Redskins and tore it up. Collins went 15/20 for 224 yards and two touchdowns. Collins spent seven seasons in KC as the primary back up to a number of Chief quarterbacks. Before you start thinking about Todd Collins being better than Damon Huard, I already brought that up back in September and rightfully got reamed for it.

And for a little Friday controversy to get the juices flowing, would you have rather the Chiefs gone the Todd Collins path than the Damon Huard path? Both are equally embarassing in my opinion.

Damon Huard
It made sense to get him.  He spent some time as the starting QB in Miami, but I don't think Collins has ever spent anytime as a starter (correct me if I'm wrong).

Todd Collins was a back up for us for 7 years and never saw any significant playing time (and no one even gave a thought to him playing) even with our carousel that is the KC Chiefs QB quandary.

re: Todd Collins, Kolby Smith, Brodie Croyle....let them play a significant amount of time, then let's judge.  One game doesn't make a career.

Great link
to see if we get the game in our area. Was Todd the starter in Buffalo for the 97 season, I could be wrong. I thought that is where we got him from.

He played in 14 games
so I'm going to assume he was the starter.

As far as the debate Collins or Huard
Which one has the stronger arm, would Collins get the deer in the headlights look? Guess we are going to find out, Campbell's injury is reported to be season ending.

Our pets heads are falling off!
Hey Herm (after he signs DeAngelo Hall)....

Just when I think you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this...and totally redeem yourself!

Carl

Wait for it...
I'm going for a record of nice things I can say about the front office.

There's no way to have known that Huard was going to turn out as limp-armed and scared as he would have been.

While I was never thrilled with releasing Collins, he was a backup and you can't pay a backup as much as Collins wanted. I can understand letting him go and getting Huard.

Now, was it correct?

Uh...

You Play! To Punt! The Ball!

sign
deangelo and assante? Hahaha that would be unreal in a sort of weird way... not too mention cashmonnnnneyyy!. Weird story: When I went to kansas city back when morten anderson was still a chief me and my step dad went for dinner with the chiefs coaches and quarterbacks, and I sat beside Todd Collins wife. I can honestly say that she is one of the most unintelligent woman I have ever met. I forget everything she said, but there was definetly a few "igloo" and "beaver" questions going on. Haha sorry I just had to include that because thats about all I remember about ol' toddzy.

and by the way
that map would be perfect if the sucker just went about 10 degrees north. Here comes another seahawks game.... (In canada we feel the need to broadcast every seingle seahawks game just because they are the closest team to western canada. I. Hate. the Seahawks!

that the Chiefs hire Chan Gailey to run the offense next year?

Bring in Pacman
He'll be looking for work after Tennesse washes their hands of him, possibly willing to work for less.
