In a down year, you'd at least like to look at your team and say they've been improving over the course of the season, even if by just a bit in a few key areas. Unfortunately, this Chiefs team is getting worse.
In Week 14, the Chiefs had their:
Lowest offensive output of the season
Fewest passing yards of the season
Second fewest rushing yards of the season
Fewest first downs of the season
Tied for the most three and outs in a game this season
And for the third time this season we only scored on one drive. Besides that drive, the closest the Chiefs got to the endzone was the Broncos' 43-yard line.
This one falls on the head coach Herm Edwards. The Chiefs were unprepared, uninspired and unequipped to hang with the Broncos for even a quarter. The failure of Herm Edwards and the Chiefs' front office to recognize what is the worst offensive line in recent memory is the most damning indictment of the coach's short tenure in KC.
And to think we're getting worse. Where to from here? If Herm Edwards can't coach the Chiefs to at least one win in the last three games, 2008 will be that much harder to swallow. And the Chiefs need to be coached and inspired to one last win. The players have nearly given up and frankly we don't have enough talent to physically out match our remaining opponents.
But you knew that. We've been watching this team decline all season long. On Sunday, Herm Edwards went a long way in making it that much harder to stand behind him and his coaching strategy. As the Parade would say- Herm, you're on notice.

Wow
If those hold?
That's the worst in franchise history.
EEEEEVER.
2nd worst was 96, in Schotty's third to last year, when we were 24 in points and 21st in yards.
The one thing you can say is that Herm is taking us places we've never been before.
