Open Gameday Thread - Kansas City Chiefs (4-3) v. Green Bay Packers (6-1)

 VS.

When: Noon

Where: Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO

The Packers on SB Nation: Acme Packing Company

Weather: High of 71. Updated Arrowhead weather is here.

We Shall March On a Road of Bones.

Very important game today. If the Chiefs win against the Packers, curently one of the NFC's best teams, the outlook for the rest of the season is bright. A loss...and its not really that big of a deal. We would be sitting at .500 in the AFC west if that happened but sitting there with anxious excitement, bordering on the cynical side, knowing that this team will more than likely not make the playoffs.

Sort of like when a groundhog comes out of its burrow and looks for its shadow. Make no mistake Chiefs fans. This game is the groundhog day of the 2007 Chiefs season.

Its a hell of a day for football. The Chiefs are back on the field for the first time in two weeks and the Patriots face the Colts in Indianapolis at 3:15 PM Central in the most exciting non-Chiefs game I've ever anticipated. Go Pats in that one...

I'll be here for the game. Come by when the game starts for our open thread, which is always entertaining. My prediction for the game is 24 to 17, Chiefs. Leave yours in the comments. I don't think I've been close on any of my predictions so who knows what the hell will happen. I'm just excited to have the Chiefs back.

GO CHIEFS!!!

this game is completely unpredictable
i'm going with chiefs by 10, but i have no idea whether it's going to be 20-10 or 40-30.  I just feel like the D is going to step up and we'll have just enough offense to win.
GO CHIEFS!!!

Let me add
three Green Bay turnovers in there as well. Two picks by Favre and one forced fumble.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 10:47 AM CST reply actions

Who knows?
I agree with the hulk, who the hell knows?  The Pack is 6-1 but I really feel the Chiefs should win this.

I feel like the D should keep them in the game but I'm still not convinced about the offense.  I'll say 20-17 Chiefs.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 10:52 AM CST reply actions

Most of the predictions
I've read and heard from people fall right about there too.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 10:54 AM CST up reply actions

Why John Madden doesn't write for a living
Here's his long, long intro to his column breaking down the Colts/Pats:
You can't get any bigger than this at this point in the season! There will be games bigger when we get to playoff implications and during the playoffs and then the Super Bowl, but when you can get to this point in the season and get two undefeated teams playing against each other and it's not even arguable any more these are the two best teams in the NFL and this is a big, big one!

Man, thats painful to read.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 11:04 AM CST reply actions

NFL Today
Three out of the four picked the Chiefs. Marino picked against the Chiefs. Cower, Boomer and Shannon Sharpe took the Chiefs.

Bored during pre-game
What is everyone drinking for the game? I've got a glass of original Fresca right here.

No, no
peach fresca is the way to go, my friend.

For those not in KC
The weather is just about perfect. There is a slight, cool wind and not a cloud in the sky.

coffee....
but on my way to my parent's house where the fam always gathers for games, and then we'll probably have some tasty beverages of the Boulevard sort.

20-17
Chiefs.

If they can run the ball against us, I will be very, very disappointed.

Favre needs to throw a pick.  Not too much to ask.

Can't let them kill us with one play drives, like the Denver game.  The more opportunities you give Favre, the more likely he is to try and force it and turn it over.  He's been better about that this season.  But Jared Allen will be breathing down his neck this time.

Arrowhead
"One of the greatest sporting venues in the world..."

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 11:56 AM CST reply actions

A couple years ago
Stuff magazine had this to say about Arrowhead.

"If Lambeau field is the Vatican of game day, then Arrowhead is Mecca."

Bread and butter
Huard to TG to start off the game.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:05 PM CST reply actions

Huard on 3rd and 3
Rushed but Huard basically fell down. The guy is made of paper. Looking at the replay, it seems like he just fell over.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:06 PM CST reply actions

Seriously
He just falls down.  It's really pretty amazing.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 12:21 PM CST up reply actions

i think
that was the same bootleg, just to the other side.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:08 PM CST reply actions

Damn
GB picked up 5 on another Favre dump off pass.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:10 PM CST reply actions

INTERCEPTION
Yes.  Overthrown by Favre, picked by Surtain.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:11 PM CST reply actions

Favre INT!
Anyone else see that coming?

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:11 PM CST reply actions

He's got a few more in him
I like Favre, he's a great QB, but interceptions absolutely kill teams.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:12 PM CST up reply actions

Huard to TG
Exact same play that led off the game.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:13 PM CST reply actions

Ty Law
wants a pick off Favre as well, and said he would have him sign it.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:13 PM CST reply actions

Takes some balls
to try to go up and get that.  That DB just missed him.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:15 PM CST reply actions

Bowe sitting
Wind knocked out of him hopefully.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:15 PM CST reply actions

Wow
Colquitt drills it at the 2.  Man,, that's crazy.  Game changing punter?

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:17 PM CST reply actions

This is what Herm is talking about
Pinning them deep.  And letting our defense pressure pressure pressure Favre.

I'm sure Gunther just salivates at opportunities like these.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:18 PM CST reply actions

That's annoying.
3rd down, pressured, deep in their own territory.  And he converts.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:21 PM CST reply actions

Nice job
Defense is playing a lot better on this drive.  Gotta get some pressure from guys like Boone.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 12:22 PM CST reply actions

Joe Buck said it
But Boone is fast for a guy his size.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:23 PM CST up reply actions

Back 'em up
and let 'em convert.

Come on.  I hate 3rd down conversions.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:23 PM CST reply actions

Oh my
How could we not get that ball?

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 12:24 PM CST reply actions

Fumble on the exchange
Chiefs almost grab it but a GB o-linemen fell on it.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:25 PM CST reply actions

DJ
He is becoming a huge badass.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:27 PM CST reply actions

Packers
are 3/3 on third downs. Another one coming up....

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:28 PM CST reply actions

Close
Jennings dropped a sure first down. I'll take a stop any way we can get it.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:31 PM CST reply actions

We needed that break
I get the feeling we're going to need to get a few more if we are going to win.  Gotta get some more turnovers and take advantage when we do.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 12:33 PM CST up reply actions

You think
Rayner and Crosby talked to each other this week?

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:32 PM CST reply actions

Hey
Eddie Drummond showing some life.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 12:34 PM CST reply actions

Tackled by the kicker
At least he looks like he's trying hard.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:36 PM CST up reply actions

Flag on 3rd and long
Defensive holdling. And the Chiefs actually get by a 3rd down.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:39 PM CST reply actions

If there's one thing I hate
It's throwing 4 yards short of the 1st down.

That was a nice job by Tony of throwing that guy off.  Hilarious.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 12:40 PM CST reply actions

Woh
Bad pass by Huard, juggled and called incomplete.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:41 PM CST reply actions

*RE
Juggled by the defense.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:41 PM CST up reply actions

Priest
it's still hard to believe he's in there.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:42 PM CST reply actions

Priest in the game
Handoff to him, short gain. Nothing really there.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:42 PM CST reply actions

Man
he doesn't drop many of those.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:43 PM CST reply actions

High wobbler
by Huard. Tony was lucky to get his hands on it at all.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:43 PM CST up reply actions

Jared + Tamba
=fumble.  We'll actually recover one of those soon....

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:47 PM CST reply actions

That's the Chiefs return game we all know and love
A holding penalty and we can still only get 10 yards.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 12:48 PM CST reply actions

TG big gain
How many receptions is that for him now?  4?

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:51 PM CST reply actions

Play action fake
Which was great by Huard who had an even better pass to TG.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:51 PM CST reply actions

I'm glad our fantasy league
isn't points per reception.  TG has like 6 already.  TGW would be racking them up.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:53 PM CST reply actions

Huard
What the hell are you doing?

As soon as that ball hit the ground I knew he was going down.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 12:54 PM CST reply actions

Another sack
Three for the Packers this game.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 12:55 PM CST reply actions

Dear lord
Favre to his TE to the 23 yard line. Dammit.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:00 PM CST reply actions

We're okay
one score game.  Eventually, there will be another Favre mistake and we have to capitalize.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:04 PM CST reply actions

Well
Defense is somehow managing to keep us in the game and the offense (outside of TG) can't get anything going.

1:22 left we'll probably run out the clock right?

Well, actually we'll probably run up the middle then decide we want to try to get some points before the half after we wasted 20 seconds.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 1:06 PM CST reply actions

Drummond
has a unique ability to run into any pack of defenders on the field.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:07 PM CST reply actions

Receivers
The Packers have completions to 7 different players and the Chiefs have...Tony Gonzalez.  Anybody else out there?

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 1:09 PM CST reply actions

Bad
The Chiefs' offense can't run out 1:16 on the clock to end the half.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:11 PM CST reply actions

Classic drive
A 2 yard pass and two straight incompletions.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 1:11 PM CST reply actions

What more can you say?
Another dominating performance by Damon Huard and his excellent mobility.

With the way this offence is performing, we should have no problem winning this game.

We have completions to 2 receivers. One of them is Larry Johnson.

by Ridiculous Matt on Nov 4, 2007 1:12 PM CST reply actions

Thank you
3 GB fumbles and they've recovered all of them.  Maddening.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 1:14 PM CST up reply actions

Pathetic
Given the fact that we're coming off a bye, this offensive display is absolutely pathetic.  I don't see an improvement in any facet of the game in the last two weeks.  Either we make some BIG adjustments at halftime, or this could get ugly.

by KennyGregoryRockThaCradle on Nov 4, 2007 1:15 PM CST reply actions

RE
We've only run once on 1st down this game.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:17 PM CST reply actions

What's frustrating
is we should be thrilled. The defense is playing out of its mind....

by Ridiculous Matt on Nov 4, 2007 1:19 PM CST reply actions

Go Benny Go!
Let's put some points on the board!

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 1:19 PM CST reply actions

Yes! Interception!
Let's see if we can get something.  Too bad we don't have much time.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:19 PM CST reply actions

Ho ho
Pass interference? Touchdown?

Which one is it??

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:20 PM CST reply actions

PI
1st and goal from the 1.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:20 PM CST reply actions

Thank you Green Bay
Way to go Damon...throw into double coverage to Samie and let them bail us out.  I'll take it.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 1:20 PM CST reply actions

Hell of an effort
by Samie Parker. Pass interference. Chiefs ball on the 1.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:21 PM CST reply actions

You've got to be kidding me
Bob Gretz is saying Herm was trying to tell the ref they wanted a timeout after the play and they called it now.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 1:22 PM CST reply actions

What a gift of a touchdown
They basically gave us the ball on the 1 yardline.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 1:23 PM CST up reply actions

Damn
talk about a momentum change.

0:15 and the landscape of the game has been completely changed.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:23 PM CST reply actions

There's something really disturbing...
...about KC Wolf in that Superman costume.  Something about the giant red underwear is just really disconcerting to me.

"And that folks

Is a downright atrocious, pitiful, abysmal, underachieving, downright pathetic half of football. Your 2007 Denver Broncos!

by Make It Rain on Sun Nov 04, 2007 at 02:22:25 PM EDT"

No word on Cutler yet.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 1:28 PM CST reply actions

Eddie
Have I ever mentioned how much I despise Eddie Drummond?

Why would he field that punt on the 4 yard line?

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 1:46 PM CST reply actions

This first half is a perfect microcosm of
our season.

Great defense. Awesome defense. Forcing turnovers. Making plays.

Terrible offense. Horrible offense. No playmaking at QB or RB.

Aaaaaand we're up. Bizarre. Awesome, but bizarre.

by Ridiculous Matt on Nov 4, 2007 1:48 PM CST reply actions

Definitely
This is like the offense we saw at the beginning of the season. Three and out...three and out...

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:49 PM CST up reply actions

Back
Sounds like Eddie Drummond is being Eddie Drummond.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:49 PM CST reply actions

With or without Cutler
it seems that the Broncos are uncharacteristically losing at home and losing to to teams they should not be losing to.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:52 PM CST reply actions

Parker again
for a first down. Not too shabby.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:53 PM CST reply actions

#1 rule on offense
Get Samie Parker involved.

Just kidding, everyone...

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:53 PM CST reply actions

It IS the 2nd half
We are certainly a "tale of two halves" type of football team.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:53 PM CST reply actions

Running game
We've got nothing. LJ is basically running and falling down or being forced down right at the line of scrimmage.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:54 PM CST reply actions

I don't understand it
I kept thinking that we'd get it going as the season went on but it seems this is pretty much the way it's going to be.  I don't know who should take the majority of the blame but either way we need to get a little more than this for how much money we're paying LJ.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 1:57 PM CST up reply actions

If anyone cares
Antonio Cromartie, a DB for SD, who scored last week on an INT and blocked punt, returned a FG attempt 109 yards for a TD.

That's 3 TDs in 2 weeks.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:56 PM CST reply actions

SD
It would be nice if Minny could win that game.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:00 PM CST up reply actions

Nice
Peterson is amazing.  64 yards.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:02 PM CST up reply actions

But
to win this game all we have to do is play field position...

I could seriously see us winning this game 7-6...

by Ridiculous Matt on Nov 4, 2007 1:56 PM CST reply actions

So could I
Favre will get desperate at some point.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 1:59 PM CST up reply actions

Agree with Chris
let Favre get desperate early.  It'll pay off every once in a while, but more often than not he's turning it over when he feels he has to force something.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:00 PM CST up reply actions

The Packers
are in a rhythm. We need a stop or we're going to get lit up.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:00 PM CST reply actions

Huge play...
...by Kendrell Bell?  Either way it was a big stop and an even bigger missed kick.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:03 PM CST up reply actions

Really?
Maybe I just zoned out and missed it.  He made a play?

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:03 PM CST up reply actions

Hard to believe
But the radio guys said he was one of the first ones in there on the 3rd down play.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:04 PM CST up reply actions

Adrian Peterson
is giving it to SD.

Stopped them!

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:02 PM CST reply actions

STOP!
On 3rd and short...Will the Pack go for it?

Nope. They're attempting a field goal.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:02 PM CST reply actions

Crosby 52 yards
No good!

7-6 Chiefs!

Let's turn this into (at least) 3.  Good field position.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:03 PM CST reply actions

DBowe
He was a little dinged up early but has he been back in the game since then?

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:06 PM CST reply actions

TG rarely commits penalties
Shaky call.  There goes the field position.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:06 PM CST reply actions

Haven't seen him yet
I'll be watching out for him now.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:06 PM CST reply actions

Huge run by GB
They have all of the momentum after that pick.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:08 PM CST reply actions

Dammit
Interception, big screen play, and Boone is hurt.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:08 PM CST reply actions

More bad news
Minnesota fumbled at the San Diego 5.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:10 PM CST up reply actions

Come on
don't make this easy on them.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:10 PM CST reply actions

Fuck
Favre to Jennings for a TD.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:14 PM CST reply actions

These
short passes are just killing us.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:14 PM CST up reply actions

Alright
Can our offense do anything?

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:14 PM CST reply actions

The game so far
would indicate that we can't. Is Bowe out??

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:16 PM CST up reply actions

Maybe out?
The radio guys said he's been back on the field since the injury but is currently standing on the sideline with his helmet on and hasn't been out there lately.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:18 PM CST up reply actions

Where would we be
without Tony Gonzalez? I shudder to think.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:18 PM CST reply actions

Question
Are we thinking Brodie Croyle at this point?

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:19 PM CST reply actions

We're approaching
ridiculous levels in the "pass to TG" offense.

I don't want to hear anyone on this site ever say that Tony Gonzalez is anything less than a Hall of Famer, regardless of who is throwing to him. There was a comment earlier this season that he had to thank Huard for his production. TGonz is going up and getting passes today.

by Ridiculous Matt on Nov 4, 2007 2:19 PM CST reply actions

Agreed
he's the only offensive focal point.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:21 PM CST up reply actions

Frustrated
LJ is surrounded by Packers every time he touches the ball.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:21 PM CST reply actions

3rd and long...again
The crowd is getting restless.  We're 1 of 7 on the day.

Gonzalez is absolutely the only thing we have going for us.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:22 PM CST reply actions

Catch by TG
Is Huard looking to ANYONE else?

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:22 PM CST reply actions

On Green Bay
My heart just stopped.

Big first down.

We need a TD.  No FGs.  We've proven we can't get in position that often.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:23 PM CST reply actions

Gretz says
"Bowe doesn't appear injured but he's just running back and forth on the sidelines.  Doesn't look like he's going back in but he's still got his helmet on."

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:23 PM CST reply actions

Nice
Good enough for me LJ.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:24 PM CST reply actions

LARRY JOHNSON!
What a play!  LJ plants the flag in the endzone!

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:25 PM CST reply actions

HUGE
Damn, that was badass!  And he grabbed the flag!

Just when we doubt them....

A screen?  Who is he, Priest?  Go LJ!

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:26 PM CST reply actions

RE
I fucking love that TD celebration!

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:26 PM CST reply actions

Admit it
Planting the flag was badass

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:27 PM CST up reply actions

As soon as Huard dumped it off
I thought it was going to be a good play.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:27 PM CST reply actions

beeeeeauuutiful
how bout that, a screen pass?  and it WORKED!!!

by thehulk on Nov 4, 2007 2:27 PM CST reply actions

Sweet
Way to kill the momentum Rayner.  You suck.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:29 PM CST reply actions

I don't think the crowd really cares
about that penalty on the kickoff. We still have the momentum.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:29 PM CST reply actions

more good news
MIN up on SD late in the 3rd.

by TXroyal on Nov 4, 2007 2:29 PM CST reply actions

If we get LJ in space
he can create. Need to do more of that this game and the rest of the season.

by Ridiculous Matt on Nov 4, 2007 2:30 PM CST reply actions

Absolutely
Amazing catch by Driver. Amazing pass by Favre.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:31 PM CST reply actions

A field goal
I'm still nervous about our ability to even get in position to kick a FG.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:32 PM CST reply actions

Boone
just blows up the middle.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:36 PM CST reply actions

Boone again
Great call on the blitz, Gunther!

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:36 PM CST reply actions

I think
Gunther lives for 3rd and long

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:36 PM CST up reply actions

Thought Crosby missed that
didn't it look like it went wide right?

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:37 PM CST reply actions

I thought so too
Replay looked good though.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:39 PM CST up reply actions

And so much for 7-6
We've got an offensive slugfest all of a sudden.

This should end well.

by Ridiculous Matt on Nov 4, 2007 2:37 PM CST reply actions

That's weird
They're moving the ball now.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:40 PM CST up reply actions

Hold the phone
LJ down with an ankle injury...Damn. He rolled that bad.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:41 PM CST reply actions

It looked bad
but he doesn't seem to be in a ton of pain.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:41 PM CST reply actions

Well Chiefs fans
Isn't this what we always feared?

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:41 PM CST reply actions

Ouch
That didn't look good.

And Bowe is standing on the field, don't know if he was in that play or not.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:41 PM CST reply actions

Uh oh.
QB controversy is already boiling.

Now....a RB controvery?!?!

I can't handle that.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:42 PM CST reply actions

Ride Priest
until he shows he can't do it anymore.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:43 PM CST reply actions

Interesting
Huard has only completed a pass to TG (9), LJ (3) and Samie Parker (2)

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:43 PM CST reply actions

So many
breaks this game for the Chiefs.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:45 PM CST reply actions

Nice
They called the Samie Parker defensive pass interference play again!  Must have put that in the playbook over the bye week.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:45 PM CST reply actions

Samie Parker
has been the key to this game.

PI call in the end zone to give LJ a gimme TD.

PI call to put us in FG range with sub 6 min left in the game.  Wow.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:45 PM CST reply actions

Hey MAWK...
Making plays by Huard!  When we need it most!

TG dunked it again!  Wow!

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:45 PM CST reply actions

BOOM!
Take that! TG for the TOUCHDOWN!!! Hell of a pass by Huard!!!

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:46 PM CST reply actions

Gotta give credit
That was a really nice throw.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:46 PM CST reply actions

Another PI
Let's take another shot at this thing.

Does "the book" say go for two in this situation?

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:46 PM CST reply actions

Wow
Thanks again, Green Bay.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:47 PM CST reply actions

Yeah, it was
I'll give credit. He keeps that up and I'm right there with him.

Don't get me wrong, it's nothing personal with Huard. If he'd played like this throughout the season, I'd be thrilled with him. Only with maybe a few more receivers...

Now, defense, end this shootout crap!

by Ridiculous Matt on Nov 4, 2007 2:48 PM CST reply actions

What year is this????
Priest DIVES for the two point conversion!

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:48 PM CST reply actions

No kidding
He looks energized out there.  Maybe a nice change of pace..

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:50 PM CST up reply actions

Benny Sapp!
Nice to see he's pulled his head out of his ass.  Look what happens when he controls himself!  Defensive MVP so far...

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:52 PM CST reply actions

When Benny Sapp shuts his mouth
He's a decent player. We may look back at that as one of the plays of the game.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:52 PM CST reply actions

Wow
Dont know what to say.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:52 PM CST reply actions

just to recap
Priest Holmes dived into the offense and Koren Robinson caught a pass over the middle.

Welcome to 2002, folks!

by Ridiculous Matt on Nov 4, 2007 2:53 PM CST reply actions

Can we get in scoring position again!
It seems like we're already pushing our luck.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:53 PM CST reply actions

um.
what in the holy hell is happening?

It's like the first and second halves have had two different teams teleported in.

by Ridiculous Matt on Nov 4, 2007 2:53 PM CST reply actions

Hey....
...look at it this way.

If we lose this game, then we are still at the status quo.  Denver and (probably) SD lost.

But it's still 3:00 left, we have timeouts, we have been moving the ball well.  And ONLY NEED A FG.  I'm still confident.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:54 PM CST reply actions

Sinking in
Unbelievable pass by Favre.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:54 PM CST reply actions

Packer fans
I know they have a ton of fans but I'm really surprised by how many fans they have in Arrowhead.  I heard tickets were selling for a lot and a lot of people must have taken the money.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:54 PM CST reply actions

Priest
the minister of offense is back.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:55 PM CST reply actions

What is happening?!?!?
Huard looks like Favre.

Hold on...challenge coming?

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:56 PM CST reply actions

Jeff Webb?
THAT is unbelievable.

Uh oh...was he out?

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:56 PM CST reply actions

Shit
That's coming back.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 2:56 PM CST up reply actions

I'm sure he's out
but it's still close.  Remember the buzz words...conclusive evidence

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:57 PM CST up reply actions

Definitely
That looked great by Huard though.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:57 PM CST up reply actions

if we win this game
I will be granting Damon Huard a 3 week stay of execution.

by Ridiculous Matt on Nov 4, 2007 2:57 PM CST reply actions

You cut short
your 10 days last time.

We're going to hold you to the 3 weeks.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 2:58 PM CST up reply actions

agreed.
he has played awesome in the second half...
bench huard. start croyle.

by rockchalk on Nov 4, 2007 2:58 PM CST up reply actions

primetime
I was goated by you know who's estimation of our offence and you know it. If we win I'll try and hold to it this time.

Gah. Killer penalties, bad special teams. This is bad news. Must hold to a field goal!

by Ridiculous Matt on Nov 4, 2007 3:01 PM CST up reply actions

by the way
Adrian Peterson just iced the Minnesota-San Diego game (probably) with a long touchdown.

by Ridiculous Matt on Nov 4, 2007 3:00 PM CST reply actions

NFC North taking it to the West today
We've still got a shot but the others are done.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 3:03 PM CST up reply actions

And thats how you lose games
29 yard punt return by Charles Woodson.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 3:00 PM CST reply actions

Well that sucked
We lose the 2 minute warning and they are already in field goal range.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 3:01 PM CST reply actions

sorry...
i havent been able to get to a computer until now, and will read this later.

but, chris, do you seriously want the pats to win?

i am going to be a BIG colts fan later today.

i want every team in boston to lose every game for the  next 5 years, i have always hated the red sox and pats but now the hate is at a new level.

hate hate hate hate hate...

bench huard. start croyle.

by rockchalk on Nov 4, 2007 3:03 PM CST reply actions

Yeah I do
I enjoy their, "Fuck you" attitude. Everyone said they cheated. Now they're pissed.

I'm not a NE fan AT ALL. I like how they play football.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 3:05 PM CST up reply actions

Was wondering where you were
We've got time to move the ball a bit.

This FG is huge.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 3:06 PM CST up reply actions

Adrian Peterson
has 251 yards rushing and 3 TDs.

Just shy of a 1,000 as we hit the 1/2 way point in the season.  Remind anyone of his freshman year in college?

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 3:05 PM CST reply actions

any one know the record for most
rushing yards by a rookie.  I bet he blows it out of the water and he may make a run at the all time record.

by TXroyal on Nov 4, 2007 3:07 PM CST up reply actions

Hey
We've got some time left.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 3:06 PM CST reply actions

Damn
slithered right in there.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 3:06 PM CST reply actions

Okay
so if we can hold them to a field goal and get a decent return...

Tony.

Tony.

Tony.

Bowe.

Sound good?

Let's go Huard!

by Ridiculous Matt on Nov 4, 2007 3:07 PM CST reply actions

TWSS...
...have you seen the entire game?  or just got to it?

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 3:07 PM CST reply actions

i have watched the entire game, yes...
just had to start late, and was catching up virtue of DVR on commercials.

if i came here and chatted with you fellows, i would have known what would happen instead of just watching it.

see?

depressing game all in all, but at least we played well. that is what is most important.

our offense looked decent in the second half, and as long as we win next week at home against denver (a game we really NEED to win) i will be fine.

bench huard. start croyle.

by rockchalk on Nov 4, 2007 3:22 PM CST up reply actions

Stay of execution
If Eddie Drummond gives us a decent return I will grant him a 10 day stay of execution.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 3:07 PM CST reply actions

Ha
They tried to keep it away from Drummond?  Brilliant call.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 3:09 PM CST up reply actions

It appears with that squib kick
that GB thinks more highly of Drummon than we do.

by Chris Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 3:08 PM CST reply actions

Don't blame TWSS
he was probably just watching the jayhawks score on Nebraska again.

Of course... they allowed way more than the Tigers did against them... and we beat Colorado way more convincingly...

Also... bad dumb pass by huard there into triple coverage.

by Ridiculous Matt on Nov 4, 2007 3:10 PM CST reply actions

Well
guys...

he made some good throws...

but...um...

what happened to the "He NEVER turns the ball over"?

Damn.

Would have loved to see that one.

Good game, though.

Primetime, we might want to start a whole separate diary thread for this one.

Or should we just head to the postgame thread for the debate?

by Ridiculous Matt on Nov 4, 2007 3:11 PM CST reply actions

This sucks
I gotta watch the Pats/Colts for a while first.

I hate losing.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 3:12 PM CST up reply actions

Me too
I really wanted us to win this one.

I have to say, we played really well, though, with a pretty good team.

Defense was up against a great offense, and possibly the greatest QB of the last 13 years.

Offense had some moments, but..

by Ridiculous Matt on Nov 4, 2007 3:17 PM CST up reply actions

Don't be fooled
Huard made a few nice throws but for most of the game the offense did absolutely nothing.  The first touchdown was a gift.  The second was a screen pass that was great execution.  The third was a great throw to Gonzalez again.

For most of the game Huard was throwing picks, falling down anytime someone breathed on him, and dumping off to underneath routes.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 3:16 PM CST up reply actions

Also
Denver and SD lost.  We didn't lose or gain any position.  Things are the same.

Losing sucks.  But for us, it's all about winning the division and we're still okay.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 4, 2007 3:14 PM CST reply actions

It's going to be an epic matchup
I'm not sure if Arrowhead can survive the inevitable riot.

by Pauli on Nov 4, 2007 3:18 PM CST up reply actions
