The Kansas City Chiefs and the Week 5 Power Rankings

ESPN #21 Last week #28

RB Larry Johnson finally busted out for his first 100-yard game of the season in the win at San Diego. But he has yet to reach the end zone this season after scoring 40 TDs the previous two years.
CBS #21 Last week #24
After the 0-2 start, they have to feel pretty good about the way they're playing. That offense is starting to play better, even if Larry Johnson can't get going.
Fox Sports #17 Last week #24
The Chiefs scored 24 straight points and shocked everyone but themselves with a 30-16 win in San Diego on Sunday. Rookies Dwayne Bowe and Tyron Brackenridge had career days in the victory. Bowe, the highly touted first-round selection out of LSU, caught eight balls for 164 yards and a touchdown. On defense, the undrafted free agent Brackenridge, a minor Internet celebrity for his dancing skills displayed on HBO's "Hard Knocks," had two long fumble recoveries returned for touchdowns. It was all doom and gloom in Kansas City two weeks ago when the Chiefs started the season off 0-2. Sure enough, here we are at the start of October, and the Chiefs are .500 and tied for first in the AFC West.
I love the line "shocked everyone but themselves" in the Fox Sports power ranking description of the Chiefs. Us against the world is a powerful motivator and I think the Chiefs had that attitude in Weeks 3 and 4. Right around the time the "worst team in the league" talk was swirling around, the Chiefs rattled off two huge wins to shut everyone up for another week. And shut people up they did. We won't hear the "worst team" label anymore this year unless we really start to take a slide. With six out of the next eight at home, that will not happen.

Tyron must be surprised
to hear that he had "two long fumble recoveries returned for touchdowns."  Even when the media is praising the Chiefs they can't get anything right!

I know
You think a writer would hear "two fumble recoveries for touchdowns" and think to himself that, "Hey, I should probably double check that ridiculous stat."
