ESPN Dismisses Jason Whitlock

Last week, Jason Whitlock officially left his duties at ESPN's Page 2.  On the way out, he made some harsh remarks about fellow ESPN columnists. Today, we find out from Whitlock himself that Jason will no longer be associated with ESPN in anyway.  No more Sports Reporters and no more Pardon the Interruption.  In the man's own words:

James Cohen, an executive at the network [ESPN], called me Monday and asked me whether the comments attributed to me in the interview were true. When I said "yes," he informed me that I could no longer appear on ESPN television shows and that my November appearances on "Pardon the Interruption" would be canceled.

Jason Whitlock knew what he was doing when he made those comments about Scoop Jackson and Mike Lupica.  I believe he intentionally burned that bridge, just for controversy's sake.  He didn't tell us the "truth" in his Big Lead interview.  He simply made ad hominem attacks on Lupica and Jackson.

If Whitlock had avoided the insults and stuck to legit criticisms, he would have come off more like an unsatisfied employee rather than someone who runs their mouth...well...to just run their mouth.

Whitlock
didn't make those comments just for controversy's sake.  He made the comments because he's stubborn, arrogant, and has to have the last word.  Was it inappropriate?  Sure.  Is it consistent with the way he always acts? Yes.  Did I enjoy reading his comments?  Hell yeah.

Whitlock
Whitlock is the Rush Limbaugh of sports journalism.  I listened to him when he was on 610 & he just said outrageous things just to make waves.  Same thing with his column.

Not that Marty Wall & Neil Jones are ANY better.  Aiyayaya.  Today on the Grunhard show, that idiot Doug Franz ended a segment with, "when are the fans going to get off Damon Huard's back & support this guy."  I was like "waahhhht?"  I go to a ton of Chiefs sites, listen to sportsradio non-stop & have not heard any Huard bashing - none.  He did exactly what was asked of him in Denver - Exactly!

Huard may have more opportunity against a suspect Denver secondary but I am happy with his check-down passes & handing the ball to L.J.

Rant over.

Good post !
Huard has my respect.  He is not blessed with the same O line that Green came packing with.

Green would have to take what the defense gave, just like Damon will.  I anticipate a better response to pressure, playing under more control than he has, adjusting, in the past two games.

Now, somethig to think about.  How will Trent do on his return if he has the line that Damon will count on Sunday?

It is time for prayer.
It all works to just make each win more inspirational.

Remember when?
Remember when the media gave us the news instead of becoming the news?

There is way too
much emphasis on "celebrity" today.  Everyone wants to be one.
