The only NFL team besides the Bungles with a record that has gotten progressively worse over the past four seasons, the Chiefs have it all backwards From 2005 to 2008, their win total plummeted 80%, but fan costs soared 19.4%.
Ultimate Standings 2009 - No. 106 - Kansas City Chiefs - ESPN
ESPN ranked all 122 teams in the four major pro sports in eight different categories. The Chiefs are down from 101st last season. H/T to GenericBrand in the FanShots for the link. Click here for the complete list.

Derrick Johnson has a Message for Chiefs Fans
Kansas City Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson is launching his new website: SuperDJ56.com. The site isn't quite live yet but should be by 4th of July.
Click play for audio of DJ's message:
For those of you happen to have bosses who don't understand the importance of blogging in the workplace, here's the gist of the 34 second message:
I'm about to launch my new official website called superdj56.com in the next two. By July 4th it should be up and running. I want to get involved with you and I want you to get involved with what I'm doing football-wise and off the field.
Johnson's name hasn't come up much in the media lately, which for the offseason is a good thing. After the jump I've attached a few stories where we've talked about DJ as of late.

Red Zone Podcast: Petro With Brandon Flowers | KCChiefsblog.com
I was sitting down to take notes on the Red Zone Podcast when I noticed Ryan over at KCChiefsblog.com had already done so.
So take a visit to his site and take a look at the notes he made. He's also got the audio embedded from the mothership. Nice work, Ryan.

Scout.com: NFL Power Rankings Version 2.0
Adam Caplan ranks the Kansas City Chiefs dead last in the NFL in his latest power rankings.
Note: Mr. Caplan may have been unaware Al Davis and the Ford's are still owners in this league.

VIDEO: Cris Carter Picks a Kansas City Chief as his 2009 Breakout Player
"Larry Fitzgerald, move over because there's another young gun. And his name is Dwayne Bowe from Kansas City."
Former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver and soon-to-be Hall of Fame inductee Cris Carter recently made a visit to Kansas City. The result? Picking Dwayne Bowe as his 2009 breakout player.
2007: 70 receptions, 995 yards, 5 touchdowns
2008: 86 receptions,1,022 yards, 7 touchdowns
2009 ESPN Projection: 89 receptions, 1,114 yards, 9 touchdowns
This projection would only be a slight increase over his 2007 and 2008 totals so I guess you could say he's already, um, broke.

"Twas the Night Before Football"
Ah yes. Christmas in July. From the FanPosts.
I am going crazy. Little to no news. I am scouring the internet and sucking it dry for any article or mention of the Kansas City Chiefs. I feel like I am trying to squeeze water out of a stone. I knew July was going to be a hard month for us all but for God's sake, it's only the 1st! Even things at AP have slowed down due to the lack of news. People aren't posting as much and we are simply running out of things to talk about.
I am the creative chap and I am going to do my best to keep us all, and myself, from totally losing it durrung this dark, dark time. I found myself today thinking about how the month of July is like Christmas Eve for football fants. at the end of the month training camps will start and shortly after that the Hall of Fame Game and the preseason!
Thus, in the spirit of the NFL's Christmas Eve, I present to you, my fellow Chief fans, a poem.

Few Leaks in the Chiefs Contract Negotiations
I was perusing Pro Football Talk yesterday (Nice new digs, Florio) and came across an item regarding the Chiefs official announcement of the Colin Brown signing. If you read Arrowhead Pride regularly, you knew about this signing on June 23rd. But the Chiefs didn't make it official until June 30th. A bit strange, no?
Florio suggested that this might be the next move in the new regime's chess game with the media in the dissemination of any and all information coming from the team.
Our best guess is that this is simply another example of the Chiefs, under new G.M. Scott Pioli, believing that no news is good news for the team's overall interests, and that every announcement and other disclosure should be delayed as long as possible.
By the looks of the first reported and official signing dates given in this morning's post, Florio's statement appears to be accurate. News broke of the pending contractual agreement of 7th round pick Ryan Succop and 5th round pick Colin Brown about a week before any sort of official announcement from the Chiefs.
But...
These two instances appear to be the exception, not the rule. In large part thus far this offseason, the Chiefs have announced free acquisitions themselves or the same day other media outlets reported it.
Take a look at this chart after the jump. I've compiled a list of the official announcements of player signings from the mothership and compared it to the first time it was reported by other media outlets. The result? The Chiefs sure can keep these signings quiet.
