Chiefs Haven't Won Two Straight In Over Two Years
It's not the best opportunity for the Kansas City Chiefs to win two games in a row for the first time since winning twice way back in 2007. That's about 25 months, folks.
On October 21st, 2007, the Chiefs beat the Raiders 12-10 for their second consecutive victory. Sitting at 4-3, I don't think any of us were dreaming of a Super Bowl but, at the time, the playoffs weren't out of line to talk about.
You know what happened next. The Chiefs came off the bye week and lost Larry Johnson and the game to the Green Bay Packers. The Chiefs would go on to lose nine consecutive games to end the season. This is commonly referred to as the beginning of the downfall (though it could be argued that downfall started with shoddy drafts years prior).
The Chiefs have the task of facing the defending Super Bowl champs who, by the way, had a five game winning streak snapped by division rival Cincinnati Bengals last weekend. Yeah, that had divisional implications, serious ones for the Steelers, so we shouldn't expect a lazy team to enter Arrowhead.
The Steelers are playing the Baltimore Ravens next weekend so this game has all the makings of a trap game. Problem is, the Steelers rarely fall into trap games. They're 9-3 coming off a loss in the Mike Tomlin era. Their defense is too consistent for that to happen.
The Chiefs? Well, I don't have that kinda time to count all those losses.
We've talked about it all week. No experts from ESPN or NFL Network are picking the Chiefs, the spread is over two scores and the Chiefs are winless at home.
A win would be an incredible upset.

Arrowheadlines: Chiefs News 11/22
Game Day!!! Steelers are in town (probably with a lot of fans). If you can, head out to Arrowhead and raise some hell for those of us too far away to make it. The team's going to need all the help they can get.
How much the Chiefs might have grown as a team is debatable. They secured victory No. 2 last Sunday in Oakland and got a great deal of help from the Raiders, who like them are one of the league’s bad teams right now. This meeting is likely to show two things: the Chiefs have grown, and they are still very far, far behind the best teams in the league like Pittsburgh.
With his black and gold roots, Todd Haley does not try to hide his admiration of what the Steelers have done through the years, maintaining their place as a contender each year and winning two of the last four Super Bowl trophies to add to the four from days of yore.
"They’re consistent in all areas – personnel, how they draft, all areas," Haley said. "They don’t panic. If things don’t go real well early they don’t panic; they’ve proven that over the years. I think that this model would be a great one to follow as would some other teams obviously; New England being one of those teams and Indianapolis, Philadelphia.
Game-Day Cup O’Chiefs from Bob Gretz
Bottom line
The Steelers didn’t become the franchise they are by losing to teams like the Chiefs. Still, it’s interesting to note that lesser Pittsburgh opponents like Cleveland and Detroit were able to hang in during their games against the Steelers. That’s probably the best the Chiefs can hope for. Despite last week’s win in Oakland, the Chiefs have too many issues to think they can realistically compete with Pittsburgh. They’ve been blown out by many of the stronger opponents they’ve played, and the game against the Steelers has a similar feel. If Pittsburgh comes to Arrowhead Stadium with its best game, there’s little the Chiefs can do to have any say in the outcome. Prediction: Steelers 30, Chiefs 10.

Although Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles had a breakout game in Week 10, we hear that it wouldn't be surprising if RB Kolby Smith begins to see his role grow very soon. Smith has worked himself back to full health after sitting out the first seven games while recovering from knee surgery, and while he hasn't done much in game action, he reportedly has impressed in practices.
Considering how much the coaching staff praises him, it's only a matter of time before he takes on a larger workload.
Plus, Weis and Haley worked together at Jets. RT @BobGlauber Pioli knows Weis .... Chiefs need an OC ... It's not crazy.
Chiefs Scout Oregon at Arizona
From the FanPosts. You got a link for this breaking news story? -Chris
First of all, big “up yours” to Primetime for not putting this on the front page and relegating such breaking news to the lowly Fan Posts.
According to my inside sources the Chiefs will have scouts at this weekend’s colossal Oregon Ducks vs Arizona Wildcats game in beautiful Tucson, Arizona. But who will the scouts be scouting? This game, and this conference, is bursting at the seams with NFL talent. As few of you know the best football is played out west. They don’t call it the Conference of Champions for nothing.
This game will feature some money o-linemen and some worthy defenders, but for now lets focus on the skill players.

It's really tough not to like Troy Polamalu. The guy is amazingly good. Thankfully, he won't be playing tomorrow against the Chiefs.
Is this the best interception ever? I think so.

These Aren't the Chiefs Keyaron Fox Remembers
Pittsburgh Steelers LB Keyaron Fox is a familiar name around here. A third round draft pick by the Kansas City Chiefs at the tail end of the Dick Vermeil era, Fox appeared in 40 games over four years for the Chiefs. He contributed on special teams and even got four starts while fellow LB Derrick Johnson was downed by injury.
This isn't the rivalry game you might expect it to be for Fox. That's because when he left he went to the eventual Super Bowl champs and, well, he doesn't really know many players on the Chiefs roster. He played with only eight players that are currently on the team:
Dustin Colquitt, Brodie Croyle, Ron Edwards, Tamba Hali, Derrick Johnson, Jon McGraw, Rudy Niswanger, Kolby Smith and Brian Waters.
"When I got to looking and saw the personnel that's around," Fox said via Chuck Finder of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, "there aren't too many people from the organization as a whole that I know. They went through a house-cleaning, and there are only a few players left."
The coaching staff is different from linebackers coach to defensive coordinator to head coach. Really, this team isn't really any different from others for Fox.
I think for the most part a lot of folks appreciate what Fox did here and with our current situation at linebacker probably wishes he hadn't left. There's no animosity there so I expect there to be no boos, if anything a few cheers.
"They're pretty good fans," Fox said. "They supported me while I was there. I don't think there are going to be any boos or anything, hopefully."

VIDEO: Steelers v. Chiefs Preview
"Kansas City is mad too because they're so bad."
Thanks Pat Kirwan. NFL.com needs to trade him for some sort of fermented chicken drink.
A couple of notes from the preview:
- "You can't run on the Steelers defense."
- Kirwan thinks Jamaal Charles will be featured in the passing game more.
- "The Steelers don't need Troy Polamalu."
- Watch out for the Steelers featuring the tight end more.
Lazy Saturday, huh? Not much going on in college football today either.
Make sure you stop by tomorrow morning for the onslaught of news we'll deliver before the game. Game starts at Noon tomorrow.
