Monday Night Football 2011: Vikings Vs. Packers

Photo

The Minnesota Vikings travel a short way to Green Bay, WI, this evening to take on the undefeated Green Bay Packers. Game time is at 8:30 p.m. ET and is of course on ESPN.

SB Nation has a Vikings vs. Packers Storystream ready to roll and they will be adding highlight videos. Something tells me there will be a few highlights this evening with the Packers on the field.

Who's watching the game tonight?

Sunday Night Football Week 9: Ravens Vs. Steelers Open Thread

The Ravens travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers this evening on Sunday Night Football (Or Football Night In America I guess). This is the second meeting of the two teams this season. The Steelers lost to the Ravens 35-7 in Week 1.

This is your open thread for the game. Who are you rooting for?

Third Shift Open Thread

Photo

We are back this evening with another installment of the Third Shift Open Thread.

Tonight conversation starter is: There were many factors that contributed to the 2010 Kansas City Chiefs winning the AFC West. What was the most influential factor that helped them win the division? Take a moment and think about it.

Answer that and keep the open thread going in the comments....

Friday Night Open Thread

Photo

My first week of work at SB Nation headquarters is complete and I have to say I feel pretty good about it. Without elaborating, SB Nation is going to achieve world domination in the near future.

As always, give us your personal victory of the week in tonight's open thread. Mine is of course finally making it to Washington, DC, and starting the new gig.

What's your victory of the week?

Open Thread: Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Diego Chargers

<a class='sbn-auto-link' href=

When: 3:05 PM Arrowhead time

Where: Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, CA

Chargers on SBN: Bolts from the Blue

Listen online: 101 The Fox (Click Listen Live in the upper right corner)

TV Maps: the506.com

Chris left Kansas City at about 4:00 AM for the 11 hour drive back to Austin, TX so he will be late to the party (and because I'm the only one in the family that makes great time on long road trips).

Will the Chiefs make it three in a row today?  That would be what's called a winning streak (according to manager Lou Brown in the movie Major League).

My prediction is 24-21 Chiefs.

GOOOO CHIEFS!!!!!!

Open Thread: Kansas City Chiefs v. St. Louis Rams

VS.

Who: Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Rams (Turf Show Times)

What: The Governor's Cup

Where: Some corporate stadium

When: 7:00 PM CST

Not playing for the Chiefs: QB Matt Cassel, S Jarrad Page, TE Jake O’Connell, S Bernard Pollard and LB Zach Thomas.

Brandon Flowers will dress but isn't expected to play.

Not playing for the Rams: QB Marc Bulger, FB Mike Karney, G Richie Incognito and DE Leonard Little

The Chiefs take on the St. Louis Rams at the Edward Jones Dome this evening.  It marks the final preseason game before real action starts at Baltimore on September 13th.

Chris and I both have a handful of friends from St. Louis so there's definitely a rivalry feel to this.  Honestly, I think they just found out St. Louis has a football team.

The game is blacked out in St. Louis but will be shown locally on KCTV5 (Ch. 3 for most of us).

As usual, leave your pre-game predictions in this thread.  The winner gets a free one-year subscription to Arrowhead Pride.

Saturday Open Thread

Not too much going on in the NFL world today. Jay Cutler has been traded. The draft is just under a month away.

Use this as an open thread for the day, discussing whatever Chiefs and NFL related topics you'd like.

Here are a couple of articles to get you going today.

From Bob Gretz:

Although there are two sides playing out on this story, Bears offensive coordinator Ron Turner and Cutler have met before, and it didn’t go well. Coming out of Heritage Hills High School in Indiana, Cutler wanted to play at the University of Illinois. The Illini supposedly recruited him. The head coach there at the time was Turner. But when Cutler visited the school in December of his senior year, his family says he was told the scholarship offer had been rescinded because Illinois wanted to sign a hotshot quarterback out of Illinois.

I'm still surprised that WR Torry Holt hasn't caught on anywhere yet. Must be his asking price?

McGuire brokered the deal to get another ex-Ram, Orlando Pace, to the Bears on Thursday but Holt is focusing on the Titans and Jacksonville, where he has also visited. There is no rush. The situation could take its time to play out and that is what Titans coach Jeff Fisher said he expected to happen.

Once a Raider, always a Raider.

Former Los Angeles Raiders quarterback Todd Marinovich is back in jail.

Authorities say the 39-year-old Marinovich was arrested Friday after missing a drug rehabilitation progress review in a Newport Beach court earlier this week. He was being held at the Orange County Jail without bail.
