2008 Draft
Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft -- Pick #63 by the New York Giants
And with the 63rd and final pick in the 2008 Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft, the New York Giants select:
Eastern Michigan DE Jason Jones
Chris with the pick:
At the end of the second round, the Giants are in the unenviable position of having their remaining top needs - offensive tackle, corner back and wide receiver - pretty much depleted of upper tier talent. Then again, they did win the Super Bowl so I'm sure that will help ease the anxiety.
With those team needs, the Giants are looking at reaching for a pick and they'll do so but at the defensive end position with Jason Jones. Michael Strahan is bound to actually retire one of these seasons in the near future, perhaps this season.
He's a bit of a reach but so are most of the other prospects at positions of need for the Giants.

Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft -- Pick #62 by the New England Patriots
And with the 62nd pick in the 2008 Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft, the New England Patriots select:

Iowa CB Charles Godfrey
mikvogel with the pick:
Charles Godfrey will turn out to be a diamond in the rough for some NFL franchise. Godfrey, a senior from Iowa, is one of the bigger cornerback prospects in the country. At 6’1" and 208 lbs., Godfrey has the size and strength to jam receivers at the line, even at the next level. He was voted 2nd team All Big Ten by the coaches this season, after registering 65 tackles, 5 INTs and 9 passes broken up. Godfrey has put together a really good senior campaign, despite having to cover some of the Big Ten’s best receivers like Devin Thomas, Dorien Bryant, Arrelious Benn, and James Hardy. Godfrey is not only big and strong, but has tremendous speed.
His experience at multiple positions, along with his strength and speed, should help him find himself amongst the top tier of cornerbacks in this draft.
He’s the perfect versatile weapon to be selected by the New England scouting crew.1. Miami Dolphins - QB Matt Ryan
2. St. Louis Rams - OT Jake Long
3. Atlanta Falcons - DT Glenn Dorsey

Who Replaces Jared Allen for the Kansas City Chiefs?
Currently, the Chiefs have two defensive ends on the roster - Tamba Hali and Turk McBride. Hali will obviously anchor the opposite side of what used to be Jared Allen's end, leaving the other end spot open for competition.
As it stands, the Kansas City Chiefs do not have a clear cut starter ready to step into place. McBride had a slow time adjusting to the NFL last year and I don't believe he is ready to step into a full time starting role at defensive end. This could change as the off season and training camp go on but it's hard for me to believe that the Chiefs have penciled in McBride as the starting left end.
With free agency virtually over, the Chiefs will be quickly turning to the draft this weekend for their defensive end needs. Here's a look at the top rated defensive ends, courtesy of NFL Draft Countdown.
| 1. | Chris Long | Virginia |
| 2. | Vernon Gholston | Ohio St. |
| 3. | Derrick Harvey | Florida |
| 4. |
Philip Merling |
Clemson |
| 5. | Calais Campbell | Miami |
| 6. | Lawrence Jackson |
USC |
So, is it going to be Chris Long or Vernon Gholston? I would be happy with either one of those although I doubt Chris Long makes to to the Chiefs at #5.
If not there, do the Chiefs target who the Vikings were targeting with their #17 pick before they traded it to KC -- Derrick Harvey out of Florida?
Or are the Chiefs willing to delve much deeper in the draft and develop a defensive end they feel has value and potential?
I have to admit that my knowledge of this year's defensive ends is limited. I wasn't expecting us to have to address this position in the draft. Anyone have any suggestions?

Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft -- Pick #57 by the Miami Dolphins
And with the 57th pick in the 2008 Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft, the Miami Dolphins select:
Arkansas State SS Marcellous Tyrell Johnson
Lanier63 with the pick:
Johnson is an extremely intelligent player who is also strong and thickly built. He is a strictly free safety prospect, with relatively good speed (4.52-40) who is very tough and aggressive. Playing well in zone coverage, he has a smooth backpedal and hip turn and also sports good, not great) hands. He comes quickly to support the run and is a reliable tackle who wraps up well. He does not get caught looking into the offensive backfield on play actions and he is very confident, but is not a gambler; he is a definite team player.

Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft -- Pick #56 by the Green Bay Packers
And with the 56th pick in the 2008 Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft, the Green Bay Packers select:
East Carolina RB Chris Johnson
c rag with the pick:
Green Bay was very fortunate in obtaining Ryan Grant last year for a future 6th round draft pick, however, he has not proven he could be the sole back for a full NFL season. With the recent trends of NFL clubs going with a 2 back system, I have chosen Chris Johnson from East Carolina. What obviously caught my eye was his 4.24 40 time, making him the fastest player in the draft. Chris would never be though of an every down back but would be great change of pace to Grant - i.e. Reggie Bush to NO's Deuce McAllister. Chris Johnson will be another weapon which in a very powerful GB offence.

Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft -- Pick #55 by the Seattle Seahawks
And with the 55th pick in the 2008 Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft, the Seattle Seahawks select:
USC TE Fred Davis
ChiefSuni with the pick:
After almost using their first round pick on Davis, the Seahwaks are jumping for joy that he remains available this late in the second round. Davis is a solid athlete who can work the short and deep middle of the field and create enormous matchup problems for linebackers. Seattle's current starting TE is Jeb Putzier, so Davis, who played at a top-flight program against stellar competition, is an immediate upgrade. Combined with their first round pick of Malcom Kelly, the Seahawks have two new offensive players who can contribute immediately and for years to come.
