Kansas City Chiefs February 2012 Approval Poll: Clark Hunt

Photo

Three years ago this month we did our very first approval poll on Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt. And in those 36 months, his approval numbers have never been as low as they were in January 2012 --34 percent.

It's a new month so there will be new opinions.

More Approval Polls: Scott Pioli | Romeo Crennel

The Chiefs owner made an appearance on radio row at Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis in the week leading up to the Super Bowl (technically February) and talked about the Chiefs salary cap, free agency situation and the end of the 2011 season.

Go ahead and vote in our poll. Do you approve of the job the Chiefs owner is doing?

Previous results are posted after the jump.

2012 NFL Mock Draft Sends Trent Richardson To KC

Photo

Besides offensive tackle, one of the popular selections for the Kansas City Chiefs in the various 2012 NFL mock drafts out on the web is Alabama running back Trent Richardson. If you watched college football this year, you know about Richardson.

NFL Network's Mike Mayock on Wednesday said: "I think the last guy where you banged the table this hard was Peterson when he was the 7th pick."

Whoa. That's pretty crazy, if you think about it. It's probably why Charley Casserly sent Richardson to the Chiefs with the 11th pick in his mock draft for CBS Sports.

"Too good a player to pass up -- Richardson truly boasts top-10 ability," Casserly wrote of the Chiefs pick.

Here's another mock draft that has the Chiefs picking Richardson. I can see the logic and, if he truly is one of those running backs that only comes around every few years, then I could be persuaded into taking him. That said, a running back in the top half of the first round isn't my style. (Then again, my style hasn't resulted in me getting a job as a GM so...)

Casserly's mock draft has the Chiefs selecting 11th but we won't know that for sure until next week when the coin flip is held.

NFL Network's Mike Mayock said of Robert Griffin III: "Grab a hold of the seat of your pants & we're going for a ride. It might be really special, & on the other hand it might not."

What is RG3 saying to his former coach in the picture above?

Manning was eyeing a return in week 16 after a scripted red zone practice session. He also had a previously unknown 4th neck surgery. His arm strength then was at roughly 80% and didn't throw farther than 25 yds.

NFL Free Agency 2012: Nose Tackles Hitting The Market

It sounds like the Kansas City Chiefs nose tackle during the 2011 season, Kelly Gregg, is leaning toward retirement, which means the Chiefs need a nose tackle for the 2011-12 season. We already went over the nose tackle position in depth and talked about what KC could do but with the depth that's on the team this looks like a pretty big hole right now.

And holes on your team are often filled through the wonderful world of free agency. So which nose tackles will be available for the Chiefs in free agency?

A couple of them pop out to me.

NFL Draft 2012: Coin Flip For Chiefs Draft Position Coming Next Week

Photo

The 2012 NFL draft order is officially set except for a couple of tiebreakers remaining. The Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks both finished with 7-9 records and will conduct a coin toss to determine who's drafting 11th and 12th. The same goes for the Carolina Panthers and the Miami Dolphins with the No. 8 and No. 9 pick.

According to multiple reports, those coin flips will be done on February 24 at 6:00 a.m. (Arrowhead Time). Seems a little early but that is Combine week. So we'll have to wait until then to find out whether the Chiefs are picking 11 or 12.

NFL Mock Drafts: Chiefs Pick OT | Chiefs Pick DT | Chiefs Pick OT (Again)

KC lost a coin flip a few years ago, if you'll recall. In 2008 they were in a tie with the Atlanta Falcons and Oakland Raiders for the third, fourth and fifth spots in the draft. The Falcons won the same Friday morning coin toss which meant Atlanta picked third (Matt Ryan), Oakland picked fourth (Darren McFadden) and the Chiefs picked fifth (Glenn Dorsey).

The complete draft order as we know it now is posted after the jump.

Chiefs New Offensive Line Coach Excited About The Promotion

Photo comes via Giants.com

Jack Bicknell Jr. is in for quite a change as he leaves the New York Giants as an assistant offensive line coach and joins the Kansas City Chiefs as the head offensive line coach. It's that promotion that ultimately made the decision for him.

Bicknell spoke with the Giants website as he was packing his boxes this week.

"It's tough to leave," Bicknell Jr. said. "If I didn't have an opportunity to go from an assistant to a head O-line guy, trust me, I wouldn't be leaving, obviously. But it does give me an opportunity to be the head guy and I'm excited about that."

There are some pretty good quotes in there from Bicknell:
