Tampa Bay Buccaneers At Kansas City Chiefs, Preseason Game 1
After months of the NFL lockout and the threat of inaction, NFL Football is finally here! The Chiefs are now on the field against the Buccaneers to open the contest on FOX, and it feels good to have everything back the way it should be. So many questions await as the game unfolds, but the main idea is to gain experience, see what the roster holds and avoid injuries at all costs.

- Otherwise, Go Chiefs!

Good morning everyone!
I'm about to fly out of the promised land (KC) and head back home, so I don't have much time to put a lot here. Hope everyone had a great holiday. Last game of the season...we'll miss it the second it's over.

Ho ho...Herm is telling his assistants to look for jobs? I think that's partly just being responsible with your professional career and partly Herm giving his staff the fear.
Remember...this may be the second to last game with Herm Edwards as the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. That possibility is out there.
Don't let that thought occupy your mind much during the game. We have two live action games left for the Chiefs before the long off season starts and we really have to start making up stuff to talk about.
Take these last two games and relish the moments that only live football creates. We'll be adding links and inactives and other stuff below the fold up until game time.

A late season intra-divisional game that means relatively nothing? What is this? 2001?
Yes, the lack of a playoff race really takes the heat off of a mid-December Chiefs/Chargers contest.
Nevertheless, the Kansas City Chiefs push on today, looking for their third win of the season and their third win over an AFC West opponent. If any stat points to the failure of the AFC West to remain competitive this year, it's that one. If the Chiefs win today, they will have beaten every other AFC West team.
Sad, yes. Fortuitous for the Chiefs' future prospects in this division? Yes to that too. Sit. Watch. Listen. And keep next season in the forefront of your mind.
This is the third and final Chiefs game of the season. An off season filled with impatience looms mightily on the horizon. Soak up every last bit of live NFL action while you can before we're forced to retreat into the dark depths of free agency and the NFL draft. Take an extra second today to think about how truly great football is to watch live, before your mind drifts back to the fact that the Chiefs are giving up 397 yards a game on defense.
Defense, if you're out there, please show up today.
(Note: I struggled mightily with an appropriate segue to the standard Go Chiefs tag line so just click the play button below to get jazzed up for the game. If you can't see it, I don't know what to tell you.)

The Denver Broncos have all but clinched the AFC West divisional title and even a win here today by the Chiefs almost assuredly doesn't derail the Broncos' trip to the playoffs. The Chargers are at best 8-8 this season. The Raiders are well, the Raiders. And the Chiefs have realistically been out of the playoff hunt from the beginning of the season.
What the Chiefs can do today is win for the first time ever at Invesco Field; win two games in a row since mid October 2007 when they beat the Bengals and the Raiders; use a tough divisional road game to further solidify themselves as a team; and finally, continue to earn respect for the rebuilding process in Kansas City.
On paper, the Chiefs match up pretty well with the Denver Broncos. The biggest test will be the Denver passing offense versus the Chiefs' secondary. A couple of big plays in the passing game, which the Chiefs are prone to giving up, will likely doom the Chiefs to a season split with the Broncos.
On the other hand, if the Chiefs are able to run the ball against a poor Denver run defense and take advantage of a Champ Bailey-less Denver secondary. well there's the Chiefs W right there.
GOOOOOO CHIEFS!
PS: Use this thread for the early games too.
