Just last season in spot duty, Jacobs carried the ball 147 times for 823 yards for a 5.6 yards/carry average. 5.6. Something is still there in the tank even after his knee surgery in 2009. If he's given the boot from the Big Apple. he'll also have a chip on his shoulder to prove there's something something of value.

Could Brandon Jacobs Replace Thomas Jones As Kansas City Chiefs Veteran Back In 2012?

"If practice was going slow, he’d look at me and just say, ‘It’s time,’" Eaton said. "He wanted me to get on somebody’s [case] and start a little fight. I was known for that and it paid off on Fridays. There’d always be some extra money in my locker. Practice players don’t make much, so I really appreciated it."

Perhaps it is time to consider following the path the Kansas City Chiefs have laid out. For example, we trade Elvis Dumervil for a high draft pick, hopefully he will play his way into the first round by seasons end. We trade D.J. Williams for whatever we can get. I think Champ is a quiet leader and the Broncos would do well to keep him, however, every other aging veteran is expendable. Brian Dawkins, love your time here, but we need to get these young guys going. Kyle Orton, bye. Andre Goodman, see ya!

(On Kansas City turnaround their season by winning close games) - "Yeah, they have. We saw they won one on Monday that they probably should not have won I guess you can say. (Phillip) Rivers fumbles the snap there late in the game to give them the chance, but they finished the game. And it's a thin line between being 4-3 and where we are right now. We understand that, but we can't get those back now." (On what Kansas City does best) - "They're a good football team. They do everything they need to do to win games put it that way. They have a pretty good darn quarterback. Running game is good. They got one of the best receivers in the game. So, offensively, they are pretty darn good offensive football team. And they actually have a couple of different styles of running backs. They have some power backs. They have a gap-back sort of speak that gets out in space, kind of similar to Reggie Bush. They use him very well." (On Kansas City doing whatever to win) - "That's what you need to be in this league. Some teams do it all passing. Some do it all running. The Chiefs mix it up. And they will be a good test for us." (On Matt Cassel) - "He's a good quarterback. He makes all the throws. He has a strong enough arm to do what he needs to do. He's efficient. He can zip it in there when he has too. He can make what you call it, all the NFL throws. I think he manages the game very well for them. They do a very good job protecting their quarterback. He does a good enough job moving around and buy time to create plays and not take sacks. They are the second least sack team in the league with 13. It's a testament to how their offensive line plays and how he plays gets rid of the ball and kind of that school of thought from New England. They move the ball whether it's short passes or long passes. They get the ball out and just make plays."

Drafttek just released their new mock draft today. Their previous mock from 9/30 had us picking Luck at #1 Now we're picking his LT at #13. But what's more interesting is that the Bengals picks are #15 & #18 (don't know which is the Raiders' pick) and Chargers pick at 20. So they think that both the Raiders and Chargers are going to end the season better than the Chiefs.

Deadspin on D-Line play (Tamba)

+

Sorry if this was posted already. Thought it was interesting. If O-linemen continue to lose to faster more powerful players like Tamba, will big and powerful (slow) O-lines become entirely a thing of the past? Or is this just an anomaly caused by the lockout or something of the sort? My mind wanders to having an OFFENSIVE line filled with Hali's. Someone that knows more than me should chime in about how that would effect our zone blocking

McCluster fumbled again Monday night, his third of the season, and that number has him tied for fifth among all players. More worrisome, though, is that with 84 touches — 99 fewer than the league’s most-worked back, Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson — McCluster’s three giveaways are the most of any NFL player who’s not a quarterback.
