I’ve been in the Kansas City Chiefs draft room before. They covered up all the good stuff so I couldn’t spoil the Chiefs draft pick but I’ve seen where it all goes down.
It’s a good sized room with heights and weights and rankings all over the walls. The Chiefs have every team’s depth chart on the walls and I believe they have their player rankings on the wall as well (they have that covered up when people like me come by).
The NFL Network has put a camera in their draft room before so we’ve seen the setup.
There are two tables in this setup. GM John Dorsey, head coach Andy Reid and Clark Hunt are at one table. Those look like the decision-makers. I thought I saw Chris Ballard at that table one year but he’s now with the Colts. Other people in the room are scouts and position coaches can be called in too.
This is another draft and you can see the setup is slightly different but similar. The photo comes via the Chiefs from the 2013 draft.
This is another angle from the top picture. You can see a handful of people at the far table, Chiefs PR head Ted Crews leaning against the far wall and then others at this near table.
Hey there, Big Red and Dorse have their own phones. What are those attached to the phones? Are those cords? Huh, never heard of a phone having a cord (is what kids today will say when they see this).
