Sometimes with the way we hype up certain rookies it’s hard to remember that they’re just rookies and it usually takes them a while to get acclimated. They’re not all like Marcus Peters.
That’s true of Tyreek Hill who despite the hype is still a fifth round pick trying to make the team, according to Andy Reid on PFT Live.
“He’s working in there,” Reid said. “He’s doing a little receiver and some return stuff for us. Right now he’s trying to make the football team, that’s what he’s trying to do. He’s bearing down on that. He had a couple returns last week, he had a couple good ones and a couple nice catches. But he’s got a lot of room to improve. That’s what he’s working on right now.”
It’s a good reminder to have the Chiefs pump the brakes a little bit. Tyreek was a star in camp but that hasn’t totally translated to the field, although he hasn’t had many opportunities yet. He has three catches for 32 yards in preseason, including a 23-yard pass from Nick Foles. I really want to see him featured more in this game. Give me a few drives with him on every play. Prove he’s more than just a gadget player and someone who can stay on the field play after play.
