Jamaal Charles will start Kansas City Chiefs training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, according to Andy Reid.
This should not alarm you. Jamaal is still good and likely to participate in camp soon. This will just free up a roster spot for the Chiefs to use in camp.
Jamaal tore his ACL in October and has been rehabbing ever since. We asked Andy Reid about Jamaal on Tuesday and he deferred to the docs but he has been pretty optimistic that Jamaal will be ready at some point.
I would imagine the Chiefs are simply being cautious with Jamaal. Like we said the other day, he’s going into his ninth year in the league and his fourth under Andy Reid. He needs to be in shape but he doesn’t need camp as much as, say, the young backs behind.
Jamaal can come off the PUP list at any time and start practicing. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back soon.
