This according to reports from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and the KC Star’s Terez Paylor.
On #Chiefs S Eric Berry: 2 sides are not close now. But a deal hasn't been ruled out. Traditionally GM John Dorsey's best offer comes Friday

I can confirm, via source, that the #Chiefs and Eric Berry are currently not close to a deal. But like @RapSheet noted, there’s still time.

I probably shouldn’t speculate on sources but yesterday’s reports a deal wasn’t likely to happen sure seemed like it came from Berry’s camp while these reports today sure seem like they’re coming from the Chiefs. I can’t say for sure though.
The key point here is the one Rapoport makes — Dorsey’s best offer comes on Friday. Chiefs fans know that because we’ve been paying attention over the years, including last season with Justin Houston. Berry’s camp probably realizes that as well so they’re waiting to see the best offer.
Hopefully, they’re waiting to see the last offer and quickly accept it. Despite all the reports, doing a deal now benefits both Berry and the Chiefs.
