The Kansas City Chiefs will get their nine draft picks, undrafted free agent signings and tryout players on the field next week for their rookie minicamp which is scheduled for Saturday, May 7 through Monday, May 9.
We know who the Chiefs nine draft picks are. I'm not completely sure if all the draft picks will be there or not. They can sign injury waivers and participate as others have in the past but there's apparently some pushback against draft picks practicing without a full contract. And yes teams have already started signing picks.
We don't know yet officially who the undrafted players are as the Chiefs have yet to formally announce those. The Chiefs will also have a slew of minicamp tryout players. While the Chiefs seem to pick up a UDFA or two each year, only one tryout player in recent memory has made it (Daniel Munyer). You're going to see a ton of tryout players they need enough players on the field to field a team for practice.
I believe some second-year or injured players can come too.
This minicamp won't be in full pads and it won't be contact. This is closer to a walk through than the type of practice you're thinking of. It will be interesting however to get some of these guys on the field.
