The least surprising news of the day is that Kansas City Chiefs CB Marcus Peters is on the NFL's top 100 players list. He came in at No. 65.
NFL Films put together an awesome series of clips of Peters interceptions last season, along with their music that makes it so much better. Go watch it.
A few reactions...
First, is there a budding rivalry between Peters and Michael Crabtree? "I don't really wanna talk about Marcus Peters," Crabtree said on NFL Network when asked about Peters. Then they showed Peters on the sidelines in what looked like a game against Crabtree and the Raiders last season. Peters was telling his teammates that "15" - Crabtree's number - was doing some "bullshit".
AND THEN...a Google search revealed this quote from Crabtree after the final game of the Raiders season -- a loss to the Chiefs (their second loss to the Chiefs that year):
"I was just tired of the No. 22 talking noise like he was that great," the Raiders website quoted Crabtree as saying. "So, we just went deep on him for six. He was mad after that. He's a good football player - competition."
You can tell how mad he is because Peters wasn't even covering him on that touchdown. Sean Smith and Eric Berry were. So hmm...a rivalry?
Second, Tyrann Mathieu said it best: "Marcus is gonna be special, man."
Third, here's a picture of Peters swimming with Dolphins:
"Next year we need to double (the number of Chiefs on the top 100 list)," Peters said. "We know what we can do now. We have the pieces to the puzzle now. We lost one piece with Sean (Smith) leaving but that leaves it to me to step up in the secondary group to add to what (Eric Berry) is doing with the leadership in the secondary and we keep bringing the young guys along now and let's go win games."
Here are the other Chiefs on the top 100 (so far):
93. WR Jeremy Maclin
91. TE Travis Kelce
84. LB Tamba Hali
81. QB Alex Smith
80. LB Derrick Johnson
75. RB Jamaal Charles
65. CB Marcus Peters
