The last time Alex Smith threw more than seven interceptions, Matt Cassel was leading the Kansas City Chiefs to the playoffs. That gives you some perspective just how few interceptions Alex has thrown in the past five seasons.
This stat is not relevant but just one of those random, interesting stats:
Random stat alert !... Alex Smith has gone 5 straight years with 7 interceptions or fewer in season. Last threw double digit picks in 2010.

Alex's interceptions starting in 2010: 10, 5, 5, 7, 6, 7. Also of note is that Alex has had more attempts in the past three seasons than any other in his career. How much of an improvement is this? In his second season (2006), Alex threw 16 picks on fewer passes than any of his past three seasons. He's also completing a higher percentage of passes too.
The last time Alex threw more than seven picks, we were debating Matt Cassel and awaiting Scott Pioli's first Super Bowl win in Kansas City. (Still waiting)
It's cool that we can appreciate a random stat like this and NOT get into a huge Alex argument in the comments section. Haha, just kidding. Some people just like to see the comments section burn.
