We wrote a piece earlier highlighting Cris Collinsworth's pick for the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2016 NFL Draft: Ole Miss WR Laquon Treadwell. I hadn't seen his name mocked to the Chiefs often so I was intrigued.
Now a little more intrigue as Peter King's mock draft also sends Treadwell to the Chiefs with King saying he would be a good complement to Jeremy Maclin. This would mean that the Chiefs are passing on West Virginia safety Karl Joseph in this mock draft.
Hmm ... as noted before, I am interested. I haven't considered enough to have a strong opinion either way but one of the Chiefs problems last year was that the offense wasn't explosive enough. It's part of the reason why I kinda laugh when folks suggest trading Jamaal Charles. This offense needs more explosion, not less. While Treadwell maybe isn't considered an explosive receiver, he can absolutely help the Chiefs in the passing game. With his combination of ball skills and his blocking, he can be a good fit in the Chiefs offense.
He was often mocked much earlier than the Chiefs 28th pick but his 4.63 40-yard dash has dropped him in the eyes of mock drafts. Dropped him among NFL decision makers too? We shall see on Thursday.
