The Kansas City Chiefs are keeping the band together. With news in the last 24 hours that the team re-signed Tamba Hali and Derrick Johnson, it's being reported that the Chiefs have agreed to a new deal with defensive lineman Jaye Howard on a two-year contract.
I'm told NT Jaye Howard has agreed to terms on a two-year deal with the #Chiefs worth up to $12M.

What a day. The Chiefs went through a stretch where they lost Jeff Allen and Tyvon Branch and it seemed like things weren't going well. And then the OT Mitch Schwartz, LB Derrick Johnson and now Jaye Howard signings came in.
Howard's market was going to be bigger, I thought. I saw teams spending crazy money early on but Howard decided to stay in KC on a $6 million per year deal. I'll be interested to see the breakdown but this is a good signing by the Chiefs. We wondered at first whether they could afford Howard AND Dontari Poe, whose contract comes up next year, but with this deal it appears they can.
This is a mic drop by John Dorsey. Keeping all these players is huge for the defense. The Chiefs may only be losing one significant piece on defense in Sean Smith (although we're still waiting on news on him.
