If the Kansas City Chiefs had beaten the Tampa Bay Bucs last week one of the story lines we would’ve brought up earlier would have been the play of Rakeem Nunez-Roches. The Chiefs defensive lineman saw a bunch of snaps because Jaye Howard was out with an injury.
Nacho as they call him was solid throughout the game. He plays with so much energy it’s almost ridiculous (almost). That energy and motor are his calling card. We saw a few plays last week against Tampa where he was in the backfield being disruptive. You walked out of that game wondering who No. 99 was.
When the Chiefs are healthy, Nunez-Roches is what, the fifth defensive lineman? Dontari Poe, Allen Bailey, Chris Jones, Jaye Howard and Nacho. His playing time has increased each week since he was activated from the practice squad, from five snaps against the Raiders to 47 snaps last week against the Bucs.
When Howard comes back, the Chiefs will have a good problem along the defensive line. Determining the playing time for all these guys won’t be easy if Nacho continues to play as well as he did last week.
