The Chiefs injury news that is making headlines: Justin Houston has been cleared for football although he’s not off the PUP list yet and Jamaal Charles is a full participant in practice for the first time this year.
There’s more good Chiefs injury updates to pass along.
CB Phillip Gaines was a full participant in practice on Wednesday. This comes after he missed the Chiefs last game against the Steelers. The Chiefs were forced to move everyone up a spot on the cornerback depth chart and Ben Roethlisberger made them pay (although he was going to make anyone in the league pay that night). Good sign that Gaines will be back this week against a good Raiders offense.
RB Knile Davis was a full participant in practice after his concussion in the Steelers game. That concussion stood out because it forced Jamaal into the game late against the Steelers. We’ll see if Knile gets any return duties this week or whether it’s Tyreek Hill.
OT Jah Reid is also a full participant in practice on Wednesday after a few weeks out with a knee injury. He is good insurance at both guard and tackle.
Then there’s RB Charcandrick West, who his also a full participant after missing the Steelers game with an ankle injury. The Chiefs backfield should be at full strength this weekend.
Meanwhile, OLB Sio Moore, who saw some first team reps on Monday, was out with the flu. OLB Tamba Hali also didn’t practice which is typical.
