The Houston Texans cut former second round pick safety DJ Swearinger earlier this week and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who owned the first spot in the waiver wire, claimed him. A quarter of the league put in a claim on Swearinger, per ESPN's Field Yates.

I did not think that the Chiefs would have all that much interest in Swearinger because they have enough bodies at safety From Husain Abdullah to Ron Parker to Tyvon Branch, the Chiefs seem to like where they're at with safety.
I did wonder if the Chiefs would consider putting in a claim simply because they saw Swearinger, a second round pick in the 2013 draft, as a good value. Apparently that wasn't the case or they just figured he would be gone by the time the waiver wire rolled around to No. 18.
Some people were wondering if the Chiefs would be interested so there you have it. They weren't.
