This tweet seems notable for fans of the Kansas City Chiefs:
Seattle is the 12th No. 1 defense to make the Super Bowl since the merger. Those groups are 9-2 on Super Sunday ('82 MIA, '70 MIN lost).

You probably need to be elite at something to be making the Super Bowl and for the Chiefs that would most likely be defense. The Chiefs are closer to being an elite defense than they are an elite offense. Nobody's questioning that, right? Justin Houston just obliterated the Chiefs record books so I think we're all on the same page there. In the two years of Bob Sutton directing the defense, the Chiefs finished fifth and second in points allowed in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
There have been 49 Super Bowls. So 12 of those 49 Super Bowls the NFL's No. 1 defense was repped. That's not a huge percentage but what is a huge percentage is what happens when those No. 1 defenses make it to the Super Bowl -- they win. Nine out of the 11 times the No. 1 defense has been in the Super Bowl, they've won. If the Chiefs can just make the playoffs and win a few games ... the stats say they're pretty much guaranteed* to win the Super Bowl.
*We can all read stats differently!
