Team 3-Cone Drill Speed

Team speed seems to be the trending talk. This post will give us only a glimpse at our team speed. It may mean nothing at all. We could be slow compared to others, but I don't care enough to look at other teams. Are we really a fast team? What if I told you our average 3-Cone Drill Speed is closest to that of Travis Kelce? Well, sort of ...

Below you find 24 players at every position and their 3-Cone Drill Speeds. Notice more than half of the players listed are defensive lineman/offensive lineman/QB/TE. Generally, players finish between 6-8 seconds in this short drill.

Total Time - 170.71

Avg. Time - 7.11

To me, that looks like a very good average. Some of the guys may have lost a step, but I really believe most are faster than they once were at their combines and pro days. They have to be at the next level, right? If our guys are now indeed faster we are looking at an average sub 7-second 3-Cone drill for these 24 players listed.

What does this mean?

A sub 7-second 3-Cone drill tells us our team has great:

  • Quickness
  • Foot Speed
  • Body Control
  • Change of Direction
  • Recovery Speed
  • Flexibility

What does this mean to you?

I tried to attach a poll, but could not.
