Character

I mean, who doesn't love Jamaal Charles? I obviously am a huge fan and after the last couple days have grown to not only love him as a player, but respect him as a man.

I wanted to take a minute to talk about Jamaal's character and that can be judged in many different ways. We could talk about his "dance" or the way he shys in front of the camera. We love that every time he touches the ball you hold your breath because this could be one of his magical plays. I will be the first to say that it angers me just a little when an athlete decides to put himself and his wallet first. It could be that I was never able to have the opportunity to play in front of millions of fans. I've loved football for as long as I could remember and sometimes I feel like players forget that they started playing this game not for the money, but because they just loved to play it.

Jamaal I've learned, could be one of the exceptions. After signing his new contract he stated that all he wanted to do was get back to playing football with his teammates or something along those lines. That my fellow fans is what I love to hear and for those of us who played the game is what I believe helped us fall in love with the game, playing with our friends. Some may argue that after getting such a raise it's easy for him to say those things, but I don't believe that is the kind of character Jamaal has.

We should feel so lucky to have a player and person like Jamaal, not only for his love of the game and brilliance on the field but a guy who respects the game so much. I will not lie I loved watching Larry 2.7 run guys over and Priest taking sweeps up the sideline but neither were as complete a player or person that Jamaal is. For that, thank you JC.
