Dontari Poe, Nose Tackle... or Wide Reciever?

Hello AP readers, football fans, Chiefs fans, and so called "Analysts". I'm here with a barrel fire take to discuss the man in the middle, Dontari Poe. Now some of you are wondering what the relevance of Dontari Poe and the position of Wide Reciever may be, Well that's what I'm here to discuss.

There is a certain caliber of Chiefs fans that weren't very happy with the draft due to the non drafting of a wide receiver. Well personally I was extremely happy with the staffs choice of players (Me being an enthusiast of pass rush and linemen.) but after the draft it got me thinking "Wow a wide receiver wasn't picked with our first pick or at all" and so I thought of one of the speed demons on our defensive unit, your guy Dontari Poe. Now you may be on your way to the red X button or to the arrow pointing to the left in the opposite corner of your browser but hopefully I have caught you in the act. I would gladly appreciate your time to finish reading this article.

Can a Defensive Tackle Play a Skill Position?

In case you don't know ya boi' Poe runs a 4.98 40 yard dash and also is sitting at about 6' 3" and weighing in at 346 LBS. Now to most this is old news, however my task here is to make you think can you make a brick power house like this into a wide receiver, of course not... or maybe. Now of course you have good ol' cases of big D-tackles playing the running back or full back position such as "The Refrigerator" (William Perry) or the Defensive rookie of the year Sheldon Richardson who had two rushing touchdowns in the New York Jets special goal line package (Note: he had 4 ATT for 2 TDs which 2 of those rushes were attempted on the goaline, and others in crucial close "Need a first down" situations.) , but were not here to discuss big men playing running back, we are here for the current erra of the National Football League, The forward pass. Now who catches forward passes? wide receivers do! I know that running backs, tight ends, and even offensive tackles do on occasion, "Oh yeah, big men do catch the football sometimes." Poe would completely fit all the needs physically and mentally. So yeah, you could put him as a wide receiver.

Could This Bring Popularity and Publicity to The Chiefs Nation Wide?

If a team other than the Chiefs was to make a move like putting any sort of lineman or anyone weighing over 300 pounds at a skill position, my television would be tuned to their very first game! Now many people may have different views on that but if you witnessed the Sunday Night Football game between the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers on Dec 19 during the 2010 season you were completely blown away if you were paying enough attention to "THE RIGHT GUARD" Dan Connolly when he fielded a squib kick and went 71 yards. That video was played all over the internet and nation wide. (Video will be below this paragraph if you have not seen it) Now that is just an example of the publicity of a one time thing, now imagine how many viewers we would have from around the nation for the first game. When it started you would hear something like "Lined up in the slot we have number (80 something or so) 346 LBS receiver Dontari Poe!" Then followed up by something like "You know Jim it's bizarre, a big man who played nose tackle his whole life, (Show video of him running routes and catching passes in practice) converted to a wide receiver by Andy Reid to fit the Chiefs receiving corps needs." which to me would be music to my ears being a big man myself. Of course almost all Chiefs fans are tired of hardly being talked about on the NFL Network or ESPN's Sports Center, but this would definitely be a hot topic. I also have a feeling that Poe would then be our leading Jersey sale as a wide receiver and soon around the nation.

Now you are probably thinking to your self "What a waste of my time, I cant believe jokers like this are allowed to post on a quality blog like this!" how ever that is the point of the "FanPosts" sections on SB Nation blogs and Arrowhead Pride. So ill leave a lil' poll for you guys to vote and then we can duke this one out in the comment section. So until next time! (If i'm not banned)
