Arrowhead night games and what to expect

A bit of personal history first: My first and only game at Arrowhead was week 16 back in 2002. My girlfriend (whom I later married) and I traveled down from Iowa as teenagers, and were still in high school at the time. The game was Chiefs vs Chargers, which was Marty Schottenheimer's 1st year with the Chargers. The Chiefs were out of the playoffs, but in the air hung a bitterness, maybe a touch of contempt even. We missed out on all the legendary tailgating, the pregame partying, and simply walked past the scores of people in the parking lots and made our way inside. Maybe the fact that it was the end of a disappointing season in combination with the bitter cold, but the tone and attitudes of the fans seemed a bit reserved or bashful even. It could have also been the two under-aged kids at an NFL game that were suspiciously by themselves which looked too much like a police sting for supplying alcohol to minors waiting to happen...

Our tickets seated us 3 rows from the very top, which I learned places you right in the midst of some pretty rowdy folks. The National Anthem was something I'll never forget, which I long to be a part of again... no spoilers here, it must be experienced.

Everyone started to file out of the stadium in the 3rd quarter, and if my memory serves me correctly, I'd say the stadium was about half empty. The Chiefs did pull out a win that day, finishing 24-22 over the Chargers. The walk out of the stadium after a win is also something that has stuck with me...

My wife and I are getting serious about traveling down from Iowa again, this time for a night game; Monday night vs. the Patriots to be exact. There's going to be 4 of us all together, 1 of whom will be wearing a Brady jersey. Heckling from the Pats jersey is anticipated, but what can we expect from this night game? I'm already planning on taking Monday and Tuesday off, so any tips on getting the most out of pregame tailgating, partying, or any other items and supplies I should bring along are very welcomed. Being that I'm in my 30s now, I'm seeking the full experience. Also being that my wife and I have 2 kids now, it just might be another decade+ before we make the trip again. We're trying for tickets in the lower bowl near the redzone, and will most likely use the NFL ticket exchange.

So lets hear the tales about the night games you've been to. Lets hear about what went right, and also maybe what you'd do differently.
