I get it we're all in no mans land right now. Bored out of our minds. Seeking for something to talk about. The draft is still 36 days away. Heck another site has a count down to the draft to the second continously running. We all come to this site looking for any news pertaining to our beloved Chiefs. Grasping at any rumor just to be able to hold a conversation with fellow Chief fans.
I'm sure we all have our opinion as to whom we should draft and what position takes priority.Every draft pick will make a lot of fans excited, some fans not to excited thinking the team should of went another direction, and even get a few upset with the pick, but besides a much needed conversation piece. Do any of us, and as far as that goes the experts have any idea on how the draft will go? Sure there are the gimme's Clowney, Manziel, Bortles will go in the top 5. After that who knows?
The closer we get to the draft. The more information we have as to which direction and player a team will go. There is always suprises like our #3 overall pick in the 2009 draft when we picked Tyson Jackson. In the experts eyes I believe he was expected to go in third round or later. The TV crews weren't prepared and had little footage if any available at that time on the player. It just goes to show how things change. Dorsey was expected to go #1 overall and dropped down to the #5 overall pick in 2008 and the Chiefs drafted him. I was estatic at the time and loved the pick. I still think with the right team and a 4-3 defense he could of shined.
Players move up and down the boards on a continious basis. Look at Jimmy Garoppolo a little known QB from Eastern Ill. now the #5 rated QB. Who knew of this player a few weeks ago. The closer to the draft the more we learn about players and there lives away from football. Some news improves a players value other news hurts the players value, but it seems like every year. News about a players personal life is disclosed and the player drops from a sure first rounder to the middle rounds. I have wondered at times if teams do this on purpose. Release information trying to drop a players value hoping to get him in later rounds.A mock draft at this stage is senseless. We have a better chance at playing the lottery and winning, than we do at predicting the first round of the draft. Each round after that only gets more difficult. It makes more since to have a wish list. You can do this by either positions or players. I have faith in the Chiefs front office to be able to choose which player at each position best fits the style of football the Chiefs want to develop. So my mock draft goes like this. 1st Round - WR. position of need and one of the top 5 WR's should still be available 3rd Round - There is a possibility that one of the top 5 DE.'s is still available in this Rd. according to Mayock draft positions 4th Round - SS position. According to Mayock the 4th. rated SS should still be available. 5th Round - OG the fourth rated OG is projected to go Rd. 6-7 I say get him now. 6th and after Rds. Best player available trying to fill the needs at LB, OL, CB, and TE. GO CHIEFS !!!!!! Right now we just have to have faith in our front office.
