2014 NFL Draft surprise predictions

Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

Serious discussions about the draft and free agency have grabbed the attention of AP lately (excluding the hilarious post about the great Pat O'Donnell). I thought it would be entertaining to predict the humorous, head-scratching, "WTF" reaches in the first round and early second round of the 2014 draft. It may not necessarily be a terrible pick down the road but a shocking pick considering the players left on the board.

Although the draft is so deep that any player taken in the first round could be considered to be reasonable, I think there could be a few perceived to be drafted too early.

Several examples in recent memory would be the Broncos trading up for Tebow, Seattle taking Bruce Irvin, Bills taking EJ Manuel over Geno Smith, Cowboys drafting Travis Frederick, and our very own Chiefs taking Tyson Jackson with the number three overall pick.

For courtesy's sake (sorry in advance for the Raider's fans out there), I will throw out that...

"With the 23rd pick in the 2014 NFL draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select... Cyrus Kouandjio Offensive Tackle Alabama!"
