A lot of speculation and a lot of disappointment a lot of enthusiast I myself like the direction we are going in. We are not mortgaging the future (Donkeys) we are building a TEAM with solid players. Locking up talent is fine but at what cost? Look back at the great teams and the teams that are so so as far back at just look when King Carl and Marty was here. We were in the playoffs year in and year out at he cost of what a few BIG NAMES ie Montana, McGlocten, Risen, Allen, etc... But never got us over the Hump so to say. TEAMS like the Packers the NE Patriots, Seahawks as of late are getting TEAM PLATERS and the ones worth re-signing they do and the ones demanding BIG Paydays mostly walk and those teams replaced with the same talent or lesser talent NEXT MAN UP and got results. Yes the Talibs, Wares, Mannings, and so forth are good but for how long? NE replaced Drew Bledsoe (Franchise QB) with next man up ie via an injury with a late rnd draft pick with a TEAM Mentality and wanting to bring that TEAM to greatness a player with HEART. He also I might add got PAID yes but at a cost of the TEAM winning. Those TEAMS also PAID whom was worth the contract even BIG PAYDAY by any means necessary ie restructuring by other TEAM players wanting to win. I am not saying that all BIG NAME HIGH PRICED players aren't worth it I am saying at what cost? Denver let DRC go and signed Talib (ooooh I SCARED) a guy that was not as good for more money and a guy that is more trouble than the later and lastly a STAT GUY not a TEAM Player. Dallas, Washington, and lots of others try year in and year out have tried to buy the Winning Team and failed the ones that are are the ones that are SMART TEAM PLAYERS NOT STAT GUYS BIG NAMES HIGH PRICED. Dallas had the Dynasty and then FA set in and they tried to buy it San Fran had it then tried to buy it, Now NE had it and now trying to buy it same as all the rest WANT IT NOW AND MORTGAGE WHAT THEY CAN. the ones that had it did it right TEAM PLAYERS and SMART NEXT MAN UP MENTALITY.
The Chiefs are now starting to get this way IMHO regardless of yeah we had no cap space really but as said above by any means they could find. Obviously the ones lost this year are replaceable Vance is a lil better than TJax and cheaper, Linkenbauch (however spelled) is the same as Shwcartz (however spelled lol) Abdullah better than Lewis, Mays better than Jordan etc... Cheaper and nothing wrong with a PAYDAY but again at what cost do you want to be part of something special and take a lil less or more power to ya and take the BIG PAYOUT and gamble with a new start.
The way I see it is we are building something special with the way we are signing players and not just because no cap space (any means necessary). plus this is just year 2 in a new era and who knows maybe guys like Donnie Avery may be better now that him and Alex has had a year in the system together, maybe AJ is better than we know and the Chiefs are hiding it. Dressler a new guy could be the next Dex, Kelcy, Commings, and Johnson may be the best ever or at the least better than what we have. JD and AR are very good at evaluating talent their tract record speaks for itself. Last year we saw Cooper, Mcgrath, Schwartz, Devito etc come in and straight up BALL. Also we seen Fisher struggle but to all fairness no one wanted the 1st overall pick in a very bad probably the worst draft class last year plus Fisher struggled because of a position change as well. We also saw a CB straight out suckand clearly lost more than a step or two but I kinda look at that as the Chiefs were covering the S Smith debacle in tampering. Also Smith was not as advertised as well but again new year new team and new system. Bottom line results were more hitting on players than missing.
Now we have Hali aging and still worth quite a bit as far as trade materiel, as well as Flowers in trading and C Daniel. I like all three and they are awesome but not the direction or the scheme wise players for us except Hali. I would try and see what we could get. FA wise I would look at Tony Gonzales's understudy from ATL Chase Coffman TE also like the James Jones, Edelman, Avant, and Sanders. Would like to have DeCoud from ATL FS or Clemons from MIA. and may pick up on the cheap and full of clauses for Incognito and as soon as he acts up tell him GOOD BYE but do need another Guard then head into the Draft and get BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE and continue like it is supposed to be in the right direction and lets build a DYNASTY.
Sorry I am no English Major and I am trying but thanks for reading.
