Safety is what we need in KC!

Lets begin with another Longknife production. There has been tons of talk about cuts, resigning players, free agency, trades, and the 2014 NFL draft. Another season in the books and its time to start making changes for teams in the NFL. Unfortunately the chiefs are lacking in cap space to do much of anything at this point. For the Chiefs GM entering the offseason the main things going through your mind has to be the cap space situation and how you're going to make moves to make this team better. In this post I'm going to play devils advocate and show you what I'd do to make this team better. Remember if you're not looking forward your already one step behind!!! First thing has already happened so lets get this out of the way. Dunta Robinson has been cut and opens 3 million cap space. Resigning our own FA is up in the air with little to no cap space. I would cut all of our big names. The only one I'd think about keeping would be Brandon albert but too much and it'd be pointless with our future in Fisher. Well lets hope so.. Free agency 2013 was filled with moves and cap space to do what we needed to.. Different story this offseason. CAP SPACE!! Or lack of so lets begin making trades to open up this cap space. Some people think the top position we need to fill is WR but myself is on the side of defense wins championships so let get a FS!! If you've looked at the upcoming draft the FS position is a lil weak in my opinion so lets look to FA. Biggest free agent out there in my opinion would have to be Jairus Byrd. I know HUGE cap hit right? Here's how we open space for Byrd.. On my previous post I said I would love to acquire Byrd and trade Flowers and Hail. The only problem would be dead money the following year in the range of 6 million for Hali and 7 million for Flowers. That's the bad part but we'd open up approximately 10.5 million for Flowers and 11.5 million for Hali. With the trades of Flowers and Hali you can restructure Alex Smith and Justin Houston's contract or risk waiting for free agency which I wouldn't. I could see draft picks in the range of 2nd round for Flowers and 3rd round for Hali. So lets start the draft!! 1st round CB Justin Gilbert. Replaces Brandon Flowers and Dexter Mccluster at KR. Two birds with one stone!! 2nd round DE Scott Crichton. Replaces Tyson Jackson with a better pass rusher. 3rd round we would have two picks. 1st pick OLB Jeremiah Attaochu. Replaces Tamba Hali and makes the transition without missing a beat. I believe this guy can step right in and steal the show!! 3rd round 2nd pick. WR Martavis Bryant. This guy has the speed to stretch the field and the height to go up for the ball over short recievers. I could go on with the draft but we don't have results from the NFL COMBINE. Players are going to fall and others are going to rise. My last point is if you want to be great you got to be willing to make moves other won't. I don't know about you but I'm tired of the old Kansas City way of not making the huge trade and being content with what we have.. Things have to happen if we want to win that first playoff game in decades.. Sorry I'm all over and if its too much my 2nd post on AP and still got a lot to learn. Don't tear me up too bad but what does everybody think about the Byrd move along with my draft picks?
