Arrowheadlines: Kansas City Chiefs News 2/1

Jeff Gross

Good morning! Best of luck to Will Shields when the Hall of Fame inductees are announced later today! Here is your Kansas City Chiefs news from across the internet. Enjoy!

Will Shields Awaits Hall OF Fame Decision from The Mothership

For the first time, the Hall of Fame's newest class of enshrinees will be introduced during the "3rd Annual NFL Honors" show, a two-hour primetime awards show, airing across the nation, on Saturday night at 7 PM ET/PT on FOX.

"If I make it, awesome," Shields said. "It's a great honor just to be on that list. If I get in, that's awesome and if I don't, it's okay. It still doesn't tarnish anything that's been done over the 14 years of my career; so, it's still a positive thing."

Clark Hunt: 'Andy Reid Is An Outstanding Leader' from The Mothership

(On if Kansas City would be able to facilitate 40,000 hotel rooms for a Super Bowl)

"Yeah, it's something that the Commissioner has been pretty consistent about, in terms of Kansas City hosting a Super Bowl, that hotel rooms would be our biggest challenge. Clearly, the NFL has a set of guidelines for any Super Bowl, but I think in certain cases they're willing to overlook certain things. So, maybe that could happen."

Super Bowl Tour In Japan from The Mothership

The Chiefs have a long-standing appreciation for the men and women in our armed forces, and have a proud tradition of visiting military bases, hosting military personnel at Arrowhead Stadium and visiting troops overseas.

On Thursday, Chiefs Cheerleader Krystal traveled to Japan with ProTour Productions for the Super Bowl Tour.

"We're going to Japan to support the military during the Super Bowl weekend," Krystal explained. "The Super Bowl is a huge event and everyone will be watching the game so it will be a great way to celebrate the game and support our military."

Saturday Could Be A Big Day For Chiefs Nation... Or It Might Not from FS Kansas City

Sunday will have more of a Peyton (boo) Manning (hiss) flavor (naughty gesture) than the (stop it now, we're serious) typical Kansas City Chiefs fan can stomach without losing his or her Doritos, what with Super Bowl XLVIII featuring a matchup of two old AFC West rivals, freezing their respective tootsies off for all of Lombardi's marbles.

But Saturday, now -- Saturday could be different. Fun, even. Who says you shouldn't open your presents on Christmas Eve?

An Ominous Sign For McCluster from ESPN

Weston Dressler is 5-foot-8 and 172 pounds. He caught 70 passes for 1,011 yards and nine touchdowns last season for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.

He also returns kicks. Remind you of anyone of similar size who played for the Kansas City Chiefs the past few seasons? Somebody who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in a few weeks?

It's being reported in Canada that Dressler intends to sign soon with the Chiefs.

Chiefs' Clark Hunt Says Kansas City Could Pull Off Super Bowl from The Associated Press via The Topeka Capital-Journal

He also said it could help if Kansas City lands the 2016 Republican National Convention. The city is competing with several others, including Denver and Las Vegas.

"I think that would be very beneficial to a potential Super Bowl bid," Hunt said of the convention, "and I'm hopeful that Kansas City is going to be selected for that. I've heard very good things about our chances."

Locker-Room Hazing To Be Top NFL Offseason Topic from The Albany Times Union

"It's respect for each other, respect for the game, respect for your organizations, respect for your opponents, the game officials," he continued.

Goodell noted that education and "possibly" policy change will be priorities.

"I am certainly supportive" of considering fresh guidelines for locker-room behavior," Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said, calling it "a positive for the NFL and for the Kansas City Chiefs to really study that."

NYC's Super Bowl Boulevard Is The Epicenter For Free Gridiron Fun from FOX News

Sponsored by the Super Bowl Host Committee and GMC, the festivities start at the famed Macy's in Herald Square where a spectacular video show celebrating football is projected on the store's facade. Then it is on to the rush zone where people of all ages can step inside the world of the NFL with an animated display. The street fair continues with an autograph and concert stage where fans can meet players from the Dallas Cowboys' DeMarcus Ware, the Chicago Bears' Matt Forte, the Kansas City Chiefs' Eric Berry and many more.

A Family Of Punters Demonstrates Heredity Of Hang Time from The New York Times

Dustin did not play football until his senior year. He might never have taken up the sport if Bearden's kicker had not broken his ankle two weeks before football season.

There was one problem. Dustin punted left-footed but did everything else right-handed, including dropping the ball to kick it, which made his technique awkward. So his father made him brush his teeth and juggle golf balls with his left hand in a crash-course effort to improve his punting style.

"My gums were bleeding, I was brushing so much with my left hand," Dustin said.

Super Bowl 2014: Groundskeeper George Toma Has Been On The Field Since The First from The Washington Post

When he was a senior in high school, he was named head groundskeeper for the Cleveland Indians' Class A affiliate in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and began experimenting with seeds and sod, sunlight and shadows, learning about the right amount of watering and when to get creative. Eventually he became head groundskeeper of the Kansas City Athletics.

That's where then-NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle marveled over what he called the most beautiful field he had ever seen. Rozelle concluded that a man who cared this much about grass and dirt was needed for another big NFL experiment: what would become known as the first Super Bowl.

Predictions On 2014 Pro Football Hall Of Fame Class from USA Today

Will Shields, guard

The Kansas City Chiefs cornerstone went to 12 Pro Bowls in a row and was on the league's All-Decade team of the 2000s. Helped pave the way for Priest Holmes' then-record 27 rushing TDs in '03.

Odds: Too many more deserving candidates.

Farewell To Guy Who Made Me Want To Eat At Humpty's from The StarPhoenix

We will miss Weston Dressler. We will miss his spectacular catches, we will miss his genius for getting open, we will miss his strength of character.

What I will miss more than any of that, however, are Dressler's TV ads for Humpty's. I'm not sure if these were the best or the worst ads ever, but they certainly are the most memorable. Try recalling another ad that ran during this last CFL season. Can't do it, can you? But that 30-second spot with Weston

Dressler holding forth in a corner booth at Humpty's, you cannot forget.

Flo Rida & NFL Player Tamba Hali Discuss How Music & Football Intersect from FUSE

Flo Rida and Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Tamba Hali talked with Fuse's Esteban Serrano on Super Bowl XLVIII Media Day about the correlation between being a musical artist and playing pro football. When asked who he thinks would make a good transition from football star to recording artist, Hali nonchalantly said: "Me!"

"Getting behind the mic, that's what I love doing as an artist. But what I should do and what I will do is be a label head and give opportunities to guys and girls who are coming up."
