Chiefs at 49ers: Good, Bad and the Ugly

Boy oh boy.

What a game.

Did I forget to mention that I can’t stand Harbaugh in the past?

Not too often I do one of these but I figured for my first Sunday off in a while, I would do one. Just wish it was under a win rather than a loss.

Let’s play Good Bad and the Ugly.

Good

  • Travis Kelce- He is a beast and that is all there is to it really. He did not have the game like he had in the past but he still showed up.
  • DAT- He did not look bad for a rookie in his first NFL game. Did not have that much to do but he did show his speed off in both the receiving game and the Special Teams. On that last kick return, Toub put his fastest guy out there and I was really looking forward to seeing Thomas return that one.
  • Jamaal Charles- Nothing really to say about him because we know he is amazing. With today’s game, he is now the Chiefs second leading rusher all time. He is now 53 yards away from topping Priest Holmes and should do that against the Chargers in two weeks.
  • Defense- Sure they got gashed by Gore and Hyde but that was to be expected. They contained Colin Kaepernick well.
  • Larry Johnson being pushed further down the Chiefs all time leading rusher list- Thank god.

Bad

  • Alex Smith’s decision making- Before I go into the ugly, this was my lone bad moment. Too many times he would stare at the receiver and throw it still. He missed a wide open Kelce on that last play.

UGLY

  • Short yardage plays calls- Most coaches would run on 2nd and short and 3rd and short but not Andy Reid. He elected to throw it despite the fact that he has had success running the ball the past 3 weeks. Jamaal Charles was averaging 5.3 yards a carry. Knile Davis can take it up the middle. Hell even Alex Smith could have gotten a yard.
  • Referees- Ref’s were having a bad day. First they give Kaepernick a first down that was a yard short and still got it wrong during the challenge but they also flagged Charles when he was the one who got mauled. Oh and I love how they catch the Chiefs lined up illegally on a Field Goal attempt but did not catch San Diego doing the same exact thing. Sure that game did not affect the Chiefs but it did allow the Chargers to get into the playoffs over the Steelers. Oh and the 49ers were false starting all over the place.

That is all that I have to say right now. I refuse to bow out of the season because of two bad games. Fact is that we took a very good San Francisco team down to the wire. The only loss that was not winnable was that anomaly against the Titans.
