This year has certainly been a rollercoaster for Chiefs fans. We completely flipped from an average offense and stellar defense to a way above average offense and a defense that lost many games for us. Good quarterbacks took advantage of that defense and made them look like a high school unit. Can we fix that for next year?
. Looking at Reid's recent history with defenses, I'm not positive he can make the right calls. And make no mistake, our defense lost us a lot of games this year. What is obvious is our pass defense must get exponentially better. If your defense can't hold the opponent to under 44 points, well, you know. Now how to do that is a bit beyond me. If it were me, I would get players that are smart and fast enough to play Sutton's defense. A look at the replays yesterday showed players that might have made the plays if they had diagnosed and reacted more quickly during those big pass plays allowed. But that was from the comfort of my couch at home, and I don't know if that is possible. Consistent playoff teams have way above average quarterbacks that can read coverage and get the ball out quickly if needed. Is it physically possible to read and react in time on the defensive side?
I guess it's possible teams figured out how to beat Sutton's defense after the first Denver game. I've seen all of the posts blaming one or two secondary players. And I agree with a lot of them. But maybe Sutton's defense is just not possible to run. Is it time to replace him if he can't adjust? I just don't know, and I guess next year maybe will tell the tale.
Don't misread me, I want to be the first to congratulate the Chiefs on a fantastic year. But our pass defense must get better!
What say you, Arrowhead Pride??
