Or are they depending on the pre-game perception of the person reading this?
Ah. the bitter taste of soul crushing defeat. It is a taste Chiefs fans have come to now quite well. Though this defeat is especially bitter and leaves a stinging sensation in the pallet. I have only been a fan of this team since 2008, being 18 and not caring about football at a young age. So I never really understood the animosity towards the Colts having never witnessed those playoff heartbreakers of the past. But now I and the whole next generation of KC fans understand. That loss was so horrifically tragic it is nearly comical. I mean come on!
But here we sit, in the ashes and ruble not knowing what to say, what to think, how to be. Except just pissed off. I've lurked this site since the 2012 offseason and seldom contribute besides a comment here and there. But after today watching a good amount of older generation fans just have their camel's backs broken by the proverbial straw I gotta offer two perspectives to this game and the future.
1. This loss certifies that the Kansas City Chiefs we all adore are simply cursed at least for this next regime. Why? Because this loss has broken the majority of this teams player's psyche. Reid and Dorsey might make us contenders but it will be just like the days of Martyball, good but not good enough. Make it to the playoffs only to choke. Same old Chiefs! Even when Manning leaves Denver and they collapse we'll still be going one and done in the playoffs or choking in the AFC title game as 14-2 AFC west champs #1 seed. They simply don't have the mentality to win it all. Its why Philly ditched Reid and San Fran did Smith the same. Then we will collapse. Only very slowly because of Reid's prior success. Then maybe but probably not, the next regime will get to the promised land. Either way might as well quit caring until that day comes because it is not worth the heartache!
2. We lost Jamaal Charles in the first quarter of the game. Lost Knile, B-Flow, and Justin Houston later. Shit happens sometimes you lose get over it. This was the first year of the rebuild from Piolio's dumpster fire. And you know what it was pretty good compared to most teams'. Now what we need is to draft and develop an elite free safety, get another burner WR, 2 or 3 more pass rushers either at DL or OLB and an above average TE and this team will not only win a Super Bowl but will establish a dynasty that Dorado will sustain for decades through smart drafts and aggressive free agency. As for Alex Smith what can I say except FOUR MOAR YEARS. I mean I've only experienced Brodie Creole, Tyler Thigpen, Matt Cassel, Tyler Palko, Brady Quinn, and Kyle Orton(I left those two last not chronologically but because they were broncos at one time) as Chiefs QBs. SO I may be a bit biased about Smith due to my perspective. But he proved to me today that he IS OUR FRANCHISE QB and can take us all the way to the Super Bowl. I Believe! Get him MOAR weapons and protection and let him flourish. Bowe showed he can be clutch, the O-line is still young and will only gel and get better, another speedster WR and play making TE and BOOM elite offense. As for the D, maybe Sutton should be replaced but I say give him another season and see. I am no X and O's expert but just from watching how the Chiefs D lines up on game day and it appears its just one guy deep most of the time. That guy is Kendrick Lewis and we all know how popular he is on this site. He ain't elite and thats what the Chiefs D needs the guy to be. He seems cool and can hopefully remain as depth but if we get an elite FS the D will be Elite, we have all the other pieces with the players at other positions except maybe DE and CB. As for the ST shoot we are already getting there. Main point is this team is on the rise and will be going into year two expecting Super Bowl or bust where most teams' fans go into year two expecting a similar result of this season. We are set for the future.
If you are still reading this rant consider the emotions tied with these two perspectives when you read them contrasted with your own of the Chiefs. Depending on the type of person you are you either found one to be rational and the other to be ludicrous or perhaps you felt both were a bit extreme and fall somewhere in between. As for me, I feel that both are as likely as they are improbable because I don't believe the future is predetermined and would rather not contend that such will happen as such this way cuz I say GERBLARH!!. Ahem excuse me. Anyway both could happen is what I'm trying to say. I'm just gonna sit back and watch what happens. Thanks for reading if you made it this far. I know the article may not have really had a subject but I work at an auto parts store so yeah. Feel free to debate in the comments. GO CHIEFS!
