UPDATE: Jamaal Charles has been ruled OUT with the concussion.
The Kansas City Chiefs worst nightmare has arrived. Jamaal Charles, the all-world running back, suffered an injury in Saturday's Chiefs-Colts playoff game.
Charles took a handoff to the right side of the field and his head appeared to hit the turf.
Deadspin has another angle on it.
This image is exactly what the Chiefs did not want to see. Charles is arguably the most important player of anyone not named Peyton Manning. NBC announcer Dan Hicks called him an MVP candidate.
He stayed on the ground as Chiefs trainers came out to tend to him. A few minutes later, he walked off the field under his own power. NBC TV cameras then showed him undergoing concussion protocol from a Chiefs sideline doctor. From there Charles walked off the field and to the locker room.
His status for the game has not been announced.
